Obituary

Deborah Lee Wright, 76, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully early Monday morning, December 30, 2024.

Born on July 5, 1948 in Dallas, Texas, to Archie and Mildred Wright. Deborah moved to St. Louis, MO with her family in 1963. After high school, Deborah returned to Texas and attended Southern Methodist University and earned a bachelor's degree from The University of Texas in Austin. Deborah then moved to Houston, Texas where she was working as a nurse while attending South Texas College of Law.

Deborah became licensed in family law in 1979 and was appointed associate judge of the 257th and 310th Courts. Deborah was recognized by peers and selected as a Texas Monthly Super Lawyer for 2003-2004. Deborah retired from practicing law in 2017.

Deborah's greatest passion and love was for her friends, family and animals. Deborah enjoyed reading, listening to the Rolling Stones, and watching crime shows. Deborah always had a keen eye for treasures and loved hunting for antiques and collectables.

Deborah is survived by her children, Nicholas Hailey Wright (Monica) Emerson of Cypress, TX; Lee Elizabeth Wright Emerson of Houston, TX; and her grandchildren, Samuel, Jackson and Rhett. She also leaves behind her niece, Cathryn Walker; as well as grand-nieces and grand-nephews: Megan, Marcus, Gabriel, Eden, and Luke.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Archie and Mildred Wright of Dallas, Texas, and her sister, Patricia Walker.

A private memorial service will be held for close friends and family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Friends For Life in honor of Deborah.
