Obituary

Deborah Ann Baker was born in Detroit, Michigan on the 20th of August 1949 to the late John Thompson Sr. and Rose Marie Thompson. She was the eldest of 11 siblings and was preceded in death by her brother, Michael Thompson, and sisters, Tina Thompson & Celeste Thompson, who passed as a young child. On the 20th of June 2019, Deborah Baker departed life on earth and was received by God.

Deborah Baker grew up in Gary, Indiana and attended Tolleston High School. She worked for US Steel for many years and attained her Cosmetology license early on. She accepted Christ as a young adult and moved to Houston Texas for better opportunities and became an ordained minister. She loved people, traveling, music, dancing and most importantly, sharing the love of God with others. Everywhere she went people loved her.

Deborah Baker was married to William Baker Sr. for 14 yrs. and resided in Cypress Texas. She loved her family and lived life to its fullest. Instead of answering hello if someone called her by phone – She answered, "Praise the Lord". One of her favorite scriptures was Psalm150:6 Let everything that has breath praise the LORD!

Deborah Baker leaves to cherish her memory: Husband, William Baker Sr., three daughters Deirdre Dickens, Houston, Texas, Danielle (Daron) Gamble, Cypress, Texas, Takia (Damon) Fontenot, Houston, Texas. By marriage, 1daughter, Roshanda Hawkins, and 3 sons, William Baker Jr., Javier Baker and DeShun Baker. She had 2 Sisters, Jacqueline Adkins, Houston, Texas, Linda Thompson, Detroit, Michigan, 6 brothers, Gregory Thompson, Detroit Michigan, Ronell Thompson, Detroit, Michigan, Maurice Thompson, Detroit, Michigan, John Thompson Jr., Cypress, Texas, Allen Thompson, Houston, Texas and Sheldon Thompson, Gary, Indiana; 8 Grand-children, Denard Dickens, Terrence (Rania) Dickens, Ashli Dickens, Blair Thurman, Bailey Thurman, Londyn Fontenot, Tayler Mooney, Laila Gamble, 9 Great Grand-children, Jaidyn Fortune Dickens, Jaelynn Dickens, Lyrik Dickens, Emani Dickens, Skylar Dickens, Mariah Bellard, Mylee Bellard, Kyran Roundtree, Kayden Roundtree. She had a host of grand children /great grand-children by marriage and an abundance of other aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends that she loved dearly. She will be missed more than words can say.
