David Brian Vandergriff, 61, passed away on Friday, October 9, 2020, at his home in Magnolia, TX.

Visitation will be at Magnolia Klein Funeral Home (14711 FM 1488 Magnolia, Texas 77354) on Friday, October 16, starting at 5:30 p.m. for family and from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. for friends. A family-only burial will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 17, at Klein Memorial Park Cemetery (32529 State Highway 249 Pinehurst, TX 77362). A memorial service will be at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 17, in the Chapel of Champion Forest Baptist Church, Champions Campus (15555 Stuebner Airline Rd Houston, TX 77069). Masks are required at all services. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Wounded Warrior Project or Texas Heart Institute.

David was born September 16, 1959, in Pasadena, TX, to Richard and Marilyn Hicks Vandergriff. His parents had four children: Sue Anne, David, Dayle and Dean. Throughout his childhood they traveled the world, living in France, England, Holland, Canada and the United States. Richard and Marilyn passed on their love of Jesus Christ to David which stayed at the forefront of his life throughout all seasons. He graduated from Spring High School in 1978, attended the University of Texas for one year, then graduated from the University of Calgary in 1983. Soon after, he moved back to Houston, TX, where he developed his love and skill for business while working with his Uncle Jerry. On June 22, 1985, David married his wife, Helen Hughes Vandergriff, whom he met during a game of singles volleyball at Champion Forest Baptist Church. After 35 years of marriage, he still liked to joke that she was his "girlfriend." David started a water treatment company, Global Treat, Inc., in 1994. He was very proud of the business he created and the people who helped make it happen. He beamed with pride over his children Chayse, Bryce, Ryan, Landry and Carly and the family he and Helen built together. David was particularly pleased with his newest title, G-Pops, which he received after becoming a grandfather to his first, cherished grandchild, Ezra. In his spare time, David was found at the golf course playing with friends, family, business partners and strangers who never stayed strangers for long. In the last few months of his life, he even got his daughter and daughter-in-law to join him at the practice putting green for the first time. David had an eye for design, whether landscape or interior, and he loved to share the inspiration and story behind each decision he made. He poured his love and talent into his and Helen's beautiful home in Magnolia. He always looked forward to traveling with his family, whether to Paris, Destin, Fredericksburg, the family cabin in Jasper, or any other destination where they could spend quality time together. He enjoyed simple activities like conjuring up a new dinner recipe, playing a game of Texas Hold'em with friends, or spending time in his chair looking out at his backyard with the family dog Berkeley.

David is survived by his wife Helen Vandergriff; his sons: Cameron Chayse Vandergriff, Cody Bryce Vandergriff and wife, Lindsey Morgan Vandergriff; Cory Ryan Vandergriff, Connor Landry Vandergriff and wife, Tiffany Taylor Vandergriff; and his daughter, Carly Alyssa Vandergriff; one grandchild, Ezra James Vandergriff. He is also survived by his sister, Sue Anne McKinney, his brothers, Dayle Vandergriff and Dean Vandergriff, as well as his father, Jack Richard Vandergriff, and his wife, Aye Vandergriff, and her son Ryan Vandergriff. He was preceded in death by his mother, Marilyn Hicks Vandergriff in 2013.

David will be dearly missed by all.
