Obituary

David Wayne Stratton was born to Mike and Bonnie Stratton on May 19, 1962 in Park Ridge, Illinois. He was the second of two sons, joining his older brother Michael.
In 1976, when David was entering high school, the Stratton family moved to The Woodlands, Texas. David graduated from McCullough High School in 1981. After graduation, David soon joined the United States Navy, where he specialized in electronics, radar, and sonar technology.
The Navy stationed David in sunny San Diego, California. His ship, the "Cape Cod," eventually docked in Seattle, where he met Stacy Miller, an Oregon native. David and Stacy were married on June 22, 1985, in San Diego. There, they welcomed their first child, Brandon Michael, in 1986.
The Navy then moved David and his young family to Whidbey Island in Puget Sound, north of Seattle, Washington. David and Stacy's second child, Amanda Michelle, was born there in 1989. David eventually left the Navy and joined Boeing, the nation's leading manufacturer of commercial jetliners and defense, space, and security systems.
After almost ten years in the Seattle area, David and his family moved to The Woodlands, where David began work with Baker Hughes. Throughout his career in Texas, David worked in research and development for several oil companies, most recently Weatherford Corporation.
In 2012, David was diagnosed with Stage 4 multiple myeloma and given merely weeks to live. But David defied the odds, and after various and extensive cancer treatments, his cancer was subdued and even rendered inactive for a time. Although he always dealt with some level of pain and fatigue, David was blessed to enjoy several happy years after his diagnosis. He served as best man in his brother's wedding, walked his daughter down the aisle, and welcomed two precious granddaughters. He and Stacy also joined The Church at Alden Bridge, where David grew in his faith, formed relationships with other brothers and sisters in Christ, and served enthusiastically.
After a series of cancer-related complications, David peacefully passed away on August 31, 2017 in The Woodlands, surrounded by loved ones. He was 55 years old.
David was preceded in death by his beloved dad, Mike. He is survived by his wife, Stacy; his son, Brandon, daughter-in-law, Michelle, and granddaughters, Elise and Nora; his daughter, Mandy, and son-in-law, Nate; his mother, Bonnie, and her husband, Victor; his brother, Mike, and sister-in-law, Melanie; and numerous other extended family and friends who love him.
