David Duenas Sablan was born on December 3rd, 1957 to Catalina Duenas and Jesus Gogue Sablan being the second born of eleven children. In his life, he severed and retired with the second 33rd armor, third armor company C and returned home to Guam. After retirement he married in August 15th, 1998 to his current wife, Raynette Naehu Sablan. In their marriage they built and shared a life with five children and two Granddaughters, two boys and three girls. David was a man that wanted the best for his family and was always willing to do more than what was needed to ensure his family was well taken care of. His wife, children and granddaughters were his worldly treasures he always kept close.

Whether that was making the tough decision to leave his home in Guam so his children could get a better education stateside or even if it was as simple as a hug/kiss to ease his children's worries. There was never a day that went by that David didn't have a smile on his face or didn't crack a joke to lighten up a room. He was always giving a helping hand to those who needed it without a second thought whether it was financially or physically he was always there to be the person you needed. He taught his children about their culture/upbringing and how important it was to preserve that part of themselves. David was the greatest father that his children could ever ask for simply because he was always there for them even when it was difficult for him. When he was unable to physically be there for his children, that never stopped him from making the efforts to be there for them in other ways to show that he was never truly absent from them.

David was truly a man that went above and beyond for the ones that he loved. His life only seemed to light up more after the birth of his great grandchildren or as they would say their "papa". Staying up late to carry them or even to simply hold their hands till they fell asleep. One of his favorite things in life was seeing his children/grandchildren's light up after seeing him after a long day at work. He would reach into his pocket and like magic seemed to pull out their favorite treats.

He did many little things for his family such as always making sure that his kids were well fed before he even thought to make his own food. Made sure that their homework was done before the good times rolled and stayed up with them when they fell ill. Many of the little things in life he did; and for that, isn't it always the little things in life that matter to most to us? From making it to his eldest daughter's school concerts or to being by the side of his younger daughter the entire time in the hospital after she broke her arm. From sleeping next to and holding his youngest son's hand when he was afraid of the dark to the strong pillar his eldest son needed, when he went into a major surgery or even embracing his new Daughter-in-Law as his very own.

If there was anything he wanted most in this life, it was to ensure that those who were close to him to, know  that he truly loved them, that he cherished every moment he had with them, that his children were well taken care of and they would go on to live a life that they can be proud of. He will be immensely missed and greatly loved in his passing but will continue to live on in his children through his many teachings. When all is said and done, we say cheers to the greatest father/husband/papa we will ever know. Rest in peace dad.  We love you!

David Duenas Sablan, 61, of Spring, passed away June 18, 2019.  He was born December 3, 1957, in Oka, Tamuning, Guam to the late Jesus Gogue Sablan and Catalina Duenas Sablan.

H e is survived by his wife, Raynette Naehu Sablan; sons, Carl Keone Naehu and Ho'opono Sablan; daughters, Emily Naehu, Kealoha N. Sablan and Malina Sablan; and granddaughters, Kalea Naehu and Meilani Naehu.

The family will receive visitors Thursday, June 27th, from 9:00 to 10:00 AM at Klein Funeral Home – Champion Forest.  Funeral Services will be held Thursday, June 27th at 10:00 AM at Klein Funeral Home - Champion Forest, Chaplain Bart Bagwell officiating.  Interment to follow at Houston National Cemetery at 1:30 PM.
