David "Dwayne" Poe unexpectedly passed on to the next phase of his journey on February 26, 2023. After years of heart felt love to family and friends, his heart ultimately gave out on him. Born August 28, 1959, he grew up in Northwest Houston, graduating from Scarborough High School and then from Sam Houston State University. In 1998, the love of his life, his adoring daughter Chloe, was born and she would be his best friend for the next 24 years of his life. His hilariously unique sense of humor was handed down to Chloe. Anyone that got a chance to know Dwayne will remember his off-the-cuff one-liners; they were right up there with the best of the comedy writer's.

Dwayne could seem like a good 'ol boy from Texas with his baseball hat and southern drawl, but he had a sophisticated curiosity about all things artistic. An avid reader, he could talk shop about new music, old paintings, classic movies and all things Springsteen.

While Dwayne could be critical about his own shortcomings, he was always accepting and supportive of yours. He always made time to help you with anything you needed. All you had to do was ask. If you asked him to pick you up at 3, he was there at 2:55. He was a best buddy for his mother, Rita- running errands and enjoying long deep chats. He also nursed his former in-laws through surgeries and final years. He was generous and kind, loved to lighten your load with a laugh or a wry observation and he was always interested in what you had to say.

Dwayne will be joining his dad "Sonny" in heaven. But here on earth, he will deeply be deeply missed by his daughter Chloe, his mother Rita, his brother Frank and wife Renee, brother Charlie and wife Marsha, sister Laura and husband Don Piper and sister Lydia and husband Mike Chamberlain. His absence will also be deeply felt by his nieces Sarah, Kathryn, Christina, Madeline and Hailey as well as his nephews Gregory, Drew, Wesley, Willem, cousin Dianne Fielden and good friend Gretchen Poe.

The many animals Dwayne saw on his long daily walks will also miss him and as one friend commented "If you've ever wondered why he posted so many pictures of birds – it's because he knew he would someday take flight, leave the earth and join the angels."

Funeral Services for David Dwayne Poe will be Thursday, March 9 at 3:00
