David Ludlow Pettit, loving husband of 48 years to his wife, Juanita, proud father of two sons, and beloved "Wo" to his three grandsons passed away from a short illness on November 4, 2021 at age 71. The sixth child of seven, he was born on December 9,
1949 in Galena Park, TX
to Carmen (Ludlow) and Hugh Pettit. Quite often he would share childhood memories of a more simple life growing up there. He was a 1968 graduate of Galena Park High School. He attended Rice University from 1969-1972 and received a Commerce degree. He also pitched for the Rice Owls baseball team and kept that position on the mound all four years. Upon graduating from college in 1972, he was in the last group to be drafted in the military. He served in the reserve unit of the Texas Air National Guard from 1972-1978. After basic training in 1973 he began his 40-year career in Project Control with various engineering and construction companies displaying a wonderful knack for crunching numbers on numerous reports.
He enjoyed spending time with his loved ones and friends. He liked the game of baseball and thoroughly enjoyed playing golf with his brothers and sons.
David is survived by his wife, Juanita, of Montgomery, TX; oldest son Kelley Pettit and his wife Summer of Denver; youngest son, William "Bo" Pettit and his wife Kelly of Houston, TX; grandsons Austin Pettit, Collier Pettit, and Brooks Pettit; brothers Teddy Ray Pettit and his wife Evelyn of Trinity, TX; Don Pettit and his wife Etelka of Deer Park, TX; sister, Cheri Clark and her husband Patrick Clark of Cypress, TX. David is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He is predeceased by his parents, Carmen and Hugh Pettit; brothers, William Carrol Pettit, Robert Hugh Pettit, and Michael Stephen Pettit; sister-n-law and brother-n-law, Rolene and Billie Jean Harris; nephews, William Earl "Bill" Harris and Michael Scott Emerson.
Pallbearers are mostly family and one long-time friend: Skip Jones, Don Pettit, Jerry Weathersby, Duane Pettit, Jason Pettit, Buck Baker, Kelley Pettit, and Bo Pettit.
