David John Perry, 65, of Cypress, ran into the arms of his Savior on November 9, 2024.

He is survived by his wife, and love of his life, Shannon "Dykes" Perry; his son, Sean David Perry; his grandsons, James Armand Perry and Julian Aran Perry; his stepsister, Deanna "Perry" Dreyer, his brothers Chris Perry and Jon Perry, and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Alvin Perry; his stepmom Fredette Perry; his mom, Dolores Bonnan; his sisters Susan Perry and Kathryn Perry; and his brother, Joseph Perry.

Growing up in Park Ridge, Illinois, David showed leadership and exceptional work ethic at an early age. At just 8 years old, he delivered papers in the early mornings of the cold Illinois snow to earn money that he often shared with those in need. In high school, he was a star football player at Maine East High and won first chair as a sousaphone player. Music was one of David's greatest passions. During football season, he changed into his band uniform during half time to play his sousaphone, then returned to the field to play football. After high school, David played college football at Western Illinois before moving to Houston in 1981, where his successful career of 42 years in the swimming pool industry would soon begin.

After digging ditches and tying steel as a subcontractor, David began his own rebar company. In 1999, David made the bold move to open "Perry Pools and Spas" and it remained a household name throughout Northwest Houston. David retired in 2023. David had a gift for vision and design that led him to win numerous awards including "Cy-Fair" Small Business of the Year, countless awards of "Distinction and Excellence" from the "BBB," and "Living Magazine's Best Of" award in the Cy-Fair community for ten consecutive years. Among all of his numerous accomplishments, however, David would be quick to tell you that his greatest accomplishment was raising his son as a single Daddy.

David worked tirelessly to ensure Sean had every resource needed to succeed. Grilling steaks at 4 am so that Sean stayed "fit" for football and hollering tips for improvement from the front row of the bleachers, David gave his all to help Sean reach his goals. He watched with pride as Sean graduated from the Air Force Academy as a Second Lieutenant, had a distinguished career as an airlift and instructor pilot and now carries the United States Secretary of Defense on overseas missions. David had a passionate love for his country and was beyond honored to be the father of a soldier.

In 1992, David met the love of his life-Sean's first grade teacher. David began delivering pizza quite frequently to Reed Elementary, but secretly, David admitted being more interested in watching Shannon in the cafeteria. Shannon loved Sean and David from the moment she met them and eleven years later, God saw fit to bring them together as a family. David and Shannon were married on February 14, 2004, and David and Shannon celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary this year. They traveled the world, shared a deep passion for music, loved laughing and dancing together and ended their earthly journey as one with Jesus as their foundation and an undeniable love that will live forever.

David was a loving "Papa" to James and Julian. Tractor rides, lots of hugs and playfully turning on the "wall of rain" when they least expected it were just some of the favorite memories that brought David great joy.

David's larger than life personality, silly sayings and the way he made us laugh were a gift. He is forever in God's presence, singing his favorite song, as He bows on His knees before the One He longed to meet. "Holy, Holy, Holy." Praise Him with all your being David. You're home.
