Obituary

David P. Marke, 83, of Hockley, Texas, passed away peacefully at 6:45 a.m. on Friday, October 17, 2025, at Cypress Methodist Hospital in Cypress, Texas. He was born on April 16, 1942, in Hancock, Michigan, to Emil H. and Ellen Marke.

During his youth, Dave lived in Chassell, Michigan, and graduated from Chassell High School. He later earned a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering and Engineering Administration from Michigan Tech University. Dave was a member of Sigma Rho Fraternity. The first professional engineering fraternity in the United States.

In 1965, he began his career with Caterpillar Tractor Company in Peoria, Illinois, where he met his wife, Judy. They were married on September 2, 1967, and shared 58 wonderful years together.

Dave and Judy have one daughter, Wendy (Bob) Schade; two granddaughters, Courtney (Zachary) Smith and Caitlyn Schade; and one great-granddaughter, Landry Lynn Smith.

His 38-year career with Caterpillar took him across many states and countries, including time living in Minneapolis, Minnesota; São Paulo, Brazil; and Washington, Illinois. After retiring in 2001, Dave and Judy relocated to Hockley, Texas, in 2023 to be closer to family.

They were married at St. Paul United Church of Christ in Pekin, Illinois, and later joined First Federated Church in Peoria, where they were members for 42 years. In 2023, they became members of Good Shepherd Methodist Church in Cypress, Texas.

Dave will be remembered for his devotion to family, faith, and his lifelong commitment to hard work and integrity.

A visitation will be held Tuesday, October 28th from 5pm-7pm at the Klein Funeral Home in Tomball. A private family memorial service will take place at Good Shepherd Methodist Church on Wednesday, October 29th in the afternoon.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Good Shepherd Methodist Church in Cypress, Texas, in loving memory of David P. Marke.
