David Russel Hamrick, 77, (lovingly referred to by his family as "Paps") of Houston, received his reward when his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ called him home, December 2, 2016. He passed away at the Willowbrook Methodist Hospital of Houston.

Born in Bergoo, West Virginia, November 26, 1939, to Sylvester Clyde Hamrick and Pauline Talbert Hamrick, David graduated from Nicholas County High School in Summersville, West Virginia. He served in the 82nd Airborne Division of the U.S. Army as a Green Beret, receiving the Good Conduct Medal, and Army Commendation. Following his years of service, he attended the University of Oklahoma.

On December 21, 1962, David married the love of his life, Margaret Carroll Walters, a widow with two young sons, Alan and Eric, whom David lovingly adopted. Later, David and Maggie had two more sons, Blaine and Kyle. David and Margaret were just shy of celebrating 54 years of marriage together.

During the '60s, the David Hamrick family was instrumental in the formation and growth of Valley View Christian Church in north Dallas until the time they moved to the Houston area in 1982. David was most recently a member of John Wesley United Methodist Church of Houston.

David began his professional career at Republic Supply Company, of Oklahoma City, before spending many years at Lone Star Steel Company, beginning in 1966, as a Sales Representative, Product Manager, and Manager of District Sales. He was recognized as the Salesman of the Year in 1974. In 1983, David began his career with Mannesmann in Houston as Vice President of Tubular Sales. He retired from Vallourec Mannesmann in 2007, as President of the U.S. Division. David enjoyed, cherished and maintained the relationships of colleagues, both domestic and international, from whom he learned and mentored.

David enjoyed fishing and was an avid golfer. He has been a very active member of Champions Golf Club. David and Maggie loved to entertain guests at their home and club, and he was extremely proud of his family.

David is preceded in death by his brothers, Paul Hamrick and Roger Hamrick. He is survived by his wife, Margaret (Maggie), and sons, Alan K. (wife Nancy) of Plano, Eric S. (wife Cindy) of Tomball, Blaine K. of Amsterdam, Netherlands, and Kyle W. (wife Dena) of Tomball. His 12 grandchildren include Siri Hinze, Kathleen Hamrick, Jessica Hamrick Elson, Shea Hamrick, Kendall Hamrick, Hunter Lauren Hamrick, Spencer Hamrick, Preston Hamrick, Pierce Hamrick, Aidan Hamrick, Corin Hamrick, Jenson Hamrick, and a devoted pup named Puggles. Surviving brothers include John, Jim, and Daniel Hamrick of West Virginia, and include many nieces, nephews.

David was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend to all.

A viewing and family visitation will be held from 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Friday, December 9, 2016, at Klein Funeral Home, 16131 Champion Forest Dr., Spring, TX 77379. Funeral services for David will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 10, 2016, at John Wesley United Methodist Church, 5830 Bermuda Dunes Dr., Houston, TX. 77069. Interment with military honors will take place at 10:30 am Monday, December 12, at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Dr., Houston 77038.
