It is with broken hearts that we announce that David (Ted) Gwyn passed away on April 12, 2025.

Ted is survived by his wife Heidi, two sons: Jeff (wife Kerri) and Aaron (wife Jennifer), eight grandchildren: Kylie, Brayden, Parker, Ethan, Landon, Khloe, Piper and Madison, and extended family in North Carolina, Louisiana and Canada.

Ted, aka Ted E Bear, was a Vietnam army veteran, a doodlebugger, and a shade tree mechanic, running a successful mobile auto repair business for a number of years in the early 2000s well before the gig economy was a thing.  He had amazing inner strength, fighting through numerous health challenges in his lifetime.  He was generous and wired to help people however he could. Over the years he spent many hours on the phone to help diagnose, troubleshoot and recommend repairs for anyone he knew who was having car trouble.   He had a wicked sense of humor, making people laugh with his dry, deadpan delivery, and he enjoyed a good laugh every week watching America's Funniest Videos.  He was a car nut, he loved to fish, he was a history buff and fount of (often useless) information, and most of all he loved his family, including those of the canine persuasion.   He was unconventional to his core, and we loved him all the more for it.

After receiving a life giving liver transplant in 2008, Ted dedicated himself to paying the gift forward, delivering Meals on Wheels every week for more than 13 years as a volunteer.   For this reason, and because no formal services are planned, people who wish to remember and honor him are asked to make a donation in his name to Meals on Wheels Montgomery County Texas via the link below.
