Obituary

David Gray August 30, 1946-September 7,2020

David was born and raised in a Lutheran household. His mother, Margaret, was a charter member of Grace Lutheran Church in Muncie, IN, his home town. He earned a BS degree in Aerospace Engineering from Ball State University and a MA in Business from the University of Evansville in Indiana. He started law school but was called to his country's service in the U S Air Force. He was transferred to Webb AFB as Base Procurement officer. While on TDY in San Antonio, he met the love of his life, Dianna, and they began what came to be 48 years together. He left the service with an Honorable Discharge at the rank of Captain.

He joined the Houston-based firm of CRSS and enjoyed a varied career with projects including the King of Saudi Arabia's summer home, the US base in Yemen, Merrill Lynch's world Trade Center building and the European/American Bank on Long Island. He extended his career after retirement working with his dear friend, Carl Benton at PolyDyn Performance coatings.

He served on many Boards including ELM Lutheran Radio with his dear friend Pastor David Schultz, President of the board of Houston Choral Society, and President of the Congregation and many other duties at our loved St John Lutheran Church. His work for the Lord was his most important and he served wherever he was called.

Surviving David are his beloved wife of 48 years, Dianna; his wonderful daughter Sheri, grandson Dustin Hefner and granddaughter Abigail Garber. Preceding him in death was his daughter, Nancy Hefner and many of his family. Also surviving are his aunt and a host of dear cousins in Indiana.

In lieu of flowers, please contribute to the ELM radio ministry. Envelopes are available.
