David Arthur Bickham died suddenly and unexpectedly in the early morning hours of Monday, March 28, 2022, at his home in Cypress, Texas. He was only 58. David was born in Maracaibo, Venezuela on Friday, February 14, 1964, the son of Thomas F. Bickham and Celina Conde de Bickham, both of whom preceded him in death. David was also preceded in death by his dear brother, Jeffrey. David and his family moved from Caracas, Venezuela to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 1972 and to Houston, Texas in 1980. David graduated from Tomball High School and received his undergraduate and law degrees with honors from The University of Texas at Austin.
David was a brilliant and successful trial and appellate attorney for more than 30 years. At the time of his death, he worked in his own private practice, The Bickham Law Firm, and as of counsel to the law firm of Ajamie LLP, Houston, Texas. David was Board Certified in Personal Injury Trial Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization and had been recognized by Texas Super Lawyers since 2012. He ably and adeptly advised and represented clients as lead counsel in a broad range of complex domestic and transnational commercial and personal injury cases.
First and foremost, however, David was a loving husband and father dedicated to his family with whom he loved spending time at their beach house in Galveston, skiing in Colorado and elsewhere and breeding and raising horses. He was an active and engaged member of his Baptist Church and of his neighborhood and wider community.
Left to grieve his passing are his beloved wife of 21 years, Shannon, his cherished children, David, Jr., Isabella and Madeline, his sisters Jacqueline and partner Barbra, and Jennifer Shew and husband Rick, brothers Jonathan and wife Ling, and Thomas, Jr. and wife Marcela, and sister-in-law Carleen, parents-in-law Ed and Suzie Driscoll, aunts Marcelina Conde de Lopez and Gloria Elrod, uncles Salvador Conde Prieto and Clifton Bickham, numerous cousins, including Luis Lopez Conde, Salvador Conde Navarro, Gwendolyn Green, Stephen Elrod, Judy Harlon and Michael Williamson, and many nieces and nephews and other family and friends in the United States, Venezuela, Italy and other countries.
Visitation will be on Monday, April 11, 2022, at 1:30 p.m., with a service to follow at 3:30 p.m., at Grace Bible Church, 6325 Hurst Street, Houston, Texas 77008. Burial will take place at a later date in a private family ceremony.
Each of us will miss you and love you forever David. Although death has ended your life in this world, it will never end the wonderful relationships and wondrous life experiences we shared with you. We do not understand the mystery of God's timing in calling you home, yet "we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose." (Romans 8:28).
