Obituary

Daryl Alan Strangmeyer, 76, of Houston, passed peacefully in his sleep on February 3, 2026.

Daryl was born in Pasadena, TX on April 11, 1949, and graduated from Pasadena High School. He received a BS in Photography from Sam Houston State University, and built a diverse career throughout his life in commercial photography, sales, as a college professor, and in computer information technology network engineering.

A constant creative, Daryl was deeply passionate about photography, woodworking, home improvement, computers, auto mechanics, and anything he could fix, repair or improve! He loved riding his bike, cooking and grilling, yard work, and gardening. He was fiercely independent; once rebuilding his previous home by himself after a flood. In his 60s, he replaced the second-story siding on his house entirely on his own, rigging a pulley system to pull and hold boards while standing on a ladder (because he didn't need help!)

Daryl was a vibrant storyteller who genuinely loved to meet new people. He never knew a stranger and made friends with everyone he met. He loved Country Western dancing, mastering the craft over decades and spending many evenings spinning around the dance floors of local country bars.

Daryl is preceded in death by his parents, Polly and EC Strangmeyer, siblings Patsy Strangmeyer Reynolds, Floyd Strangmeyer and Donnie Strangmeyer. Daryl is survived by his daughter, Elizabeth Strangmeyer.

Daryl was laid to rest in the Urn Garden at Klein Memorial Park, Cypress in Houston, TX.

A special thank you to Daryl's chosen caregiver, Sally King; and to Jennifer Collins, her family and her children from "Grandpa Daryl" for all of your love and support.
