Darrell Lewis Pye passed away in Houston on Nov 16, 2020 after a brief and valiant battle with leukemia. He was born in 1954 in Houston, Texas.  Darrell graduated from Texas A&M University in 1977. He met his wife, Patti, there and they married in 1978. They enjoyed a long marriage together until her death in 2015.

One of his greatest loves was running, and some of his fondest memories were watching his daughters run. He was also a beloved volunteer for the Houston Marathon for fifteen years and made many friends, both professional runners and volunteers.

He was a devout Catholic and very involved in his community at Prince of Peace Catholic Church. He served on the Vocations Task Force and as an usher and eucharistic minister. He developed deep friendships through the ACTS retreat.

Another treasured pastime was fishing and spending time at the family bay house in Bolivar, Texas. He enjoyed many trips on the boat or his kayaks with family and friends throughout the years.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Patti Pye, and his mother, Nan Pye. He is survived by his two daughters, Michelle and Allison (Jon Wiegand), his father, Ebb, his sisters Diane (Bill Blandford) and Laurie (Ian Carnegie) and his brother, Randy (Yukie), nieces and nephews including Megan Holstien (Will), Justin Blandford, and Annie Elliott (Thomas), grand nephews William and Ford Holstien, and best friends of over 40 years, Jean and Tom Ramsey, as well as many other treasured family and friends.

He will be remembered as one of the kindest men you could ever know. After the loss of Patti, he remained positive and grew to love retirement, fishing, travel, and enjoying time with family and friends.

Visitation will be from 6-7PM, with Vigil to follow, on Friday, November 20 ^th and a funeral mass will be held on Saturday, November 21 ^st at 11:30 AM at Prince of Peace Catholic Community in the main church. Please note that in light of the COVID pandemic, the services will be held with masks required and social distancing at all times.
