Darlene Elsie Harsch's Obituary
Darlene Elsie Harsch, age 97, passed away Monday, August 5, 2019 in Hockley, TX. Darlene was born in Rosehill, Texas on January 29, 1922 on a farm where Oaks of Rosehill subdivision is now located.
Darlene retired from HISD after many years of service. You never left Darlene's house hungry. Up until she was 90, she would cut her own grass with her John Deere riding mower.
Darlene was baptized in 1922 at Salem Lutheran Church where her mother was baptized in 1895 and she was a member of Messiah Lutheran in Houston for 90 years.
Darlene is preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Leo; her parents: Ernest Edward Hillegeist and Meta Harmeier Hillegeist; siblings: Lawrence Hillegeist, Norman Hillegeist and Martha Sams. Survivors include her children: David Harsch and wife Teresa, Mary Schwenke and husband Kenton; grandchildren: Kendra Schwenke, Kenton Schwenke, Jr. and wife Kandi, Kimberly Thornley and husband Darrell, Russell Harsch and wife Kelly, Nicole Harsch; great-grandchildren: Kenton Schwenke III and wife Tori, Kori Schwenke and wife Jessica, Kole Schwenke, Jake Bolten and Summer Henke, Alex Thornley, Richard Thornley, Jack Thornley, Brittani Harsch, Kylie Harsch, Tyler Harsch, Abbie Lewellyn; great-great-grandchildren: Gabriel Schwenke and Rowyn Schwenke.
Darlene's Celebration of Life will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, August 12, 2019 with visitation one hour prior at Klein Funeral Home Tomball. Interment will follow at Salem Lutheran Cemetery.
