Obituary

Daniel Leonardo Neiss

August 29, 1945 – November 1, 2018

Our beloved Husband, Dad, Grandfather, son and brother, Dan Neiss, peacefully passed with family by his side on Thursday, November 1, 2018.  He succumbed to his lengthy seven year battle with multiple myeloma cancer, at 73 years old. A memorial service will be held at 1pm on Thursday, November 15th at Faithbridge Church, 18000 Stuebner Airline Rd, Spring, TX 77379.

Dan was born in Florence, Italy on August 29, 1945 to Vincent Neiss and Fernanda (Chelucci) Albini. He was the oldest of four children, raised in a military family by an Italian mother. His childhood was spent on numerous US Army bases in Europe until he was 16 years old. At that time his father retired and they moved to Cleveland, OH to be near family.  A year after graduating high school he was recruited by Alitalia Airlines, in part for this vast knowledge of languages, thus moving to New York City.  By 1968 he had met the love of his life, Kaye (Zilverberg) Neiss of Highmore, SD, a flight attendant for Northwest Orient Airlines in Minneapolis, MN.  They married in 1969 and traveled the world together during their free time.

In 1973 they decided to settle down in Denver, CO to raise a family. Dan started his lifetime career as a real estate agent and broker, which lasted 45 years with many accolades, awards and accomplishments to his credit.  They were blessed with three lovely daughters:  Monique (Malmgren), Andria (Christensen) and Natalie (Bunton).  Dan and Kaye made two more moves in their lifetime; one in 1986 to San Diego, CA and in 2003 to Spring, TX to be close to their grandchildren.

Dan had many interests, his favorites were; classic cars, military history and airplanes. But he also loved photography, bowling, skiing, hunting, boating, and RVing. He was involved in several organizations both professional and vintage car clubs.

Dan loved to be amongst family and friends. Throughout his life, Dan had an ever-expanding list of good friends. He considered everyone a friend and loved everyone. His generosity, enthusiasm, love of adventure, entrepreneurial spirit, and devotion to his beloved wife and family have been an example to us all. Dan was the heart of his entire extended family and will be greatly missed. Dan was preceded in death by his father, Vincent Neiss.  He is survived by his wife Kaye and three daughters, Monique (Lance) Malmgren, Andria (John) Christensen, Natalie (George) Bunton; mother Fernanda Albini; sisters Meriana Palmas, Liana Santini, and Laurine (Dino) DiPaolo, as well as eight grandchildren, twelve nieces and nephews and many friends.
