Daniel Edgar Hannen, 80, of Houston Texas, passed away on Tuesday, June 18, 2024.Daniel was born on February 9, 1944 in Kansas City, Mo, to parents Thomas Denver and Edith Ester. Daniel was the seventh of ten children. Daniel's childhood was spent in both Kansas City, MO and Osawatomie, KS and marked by the untimely passing of his Mother when he was only 10 years old.
Daniel married Margaret Ann (separated) in 1963 in Kansas City, MO and fathered two sons, Michael Arthur and Mark Daniel Hannen. A newspaper pressman by trade, Daniel relocated to Houston in the 1980s to work for the Houston Chronicle. In Houston, Daniel met and married Blanche Placido. Blanche passed away much too soon in 1991.
In 1994, Daniel married Susan Placido and later this year would have celebrated their 30th anniversary. Daniel retired from the Houston Chronicle in 2007 having moved into pressroom management for the later stage of his career. In retirement, Daniel loved traveling with Susan and enjoyed long games of dominoes with family and friends. Daniel was an avid sports fan and great lover of animals including dogs, cats, and tropical birds.
Daniel is survived by his wife Susan, Philamer (stepson), Michael Hannen (son) and his wife Ivana and granddaughters Maya and Violet, Mark Hannen (son) and his wife Kerri, Pat McCoy (sister), Dean Hannen (brother), and nephews and nieces who were an important part of his life.
