Daniel Galán "El Chief", 61, of Houston, passed away June 3, 2018.  He was born November 22, 1956, in Merced, CA to the late Apolinar Galán and Elisa Vasquez Galán .

He is survived by his wife, Sanjuana Galán ; daughters, Samantha Galán and fiance Daniel Collins, and Tania Galán ; sisters, Patricia Galán -Garcia and husband Luis, Elida Angel and husband Lupe, and Isabel Acevedo and husband Fred; twin brother, David Galán and wife Irene; brother, Enrique Galán and wife Pam; nephews, Adrian Angel and wife Rocio, Mark Angel and wife Keri, Albert Angel and wife Alicia, Jonathan Galán and wife Melissa, Michael Acevedo, and Jesus Hernandez; nieces, Amanda Galán, Yessica Galán-Hernandez, Daniela Cervantes-Hernandez, Erika Rodriguez, and Tania I. Rodriguez; sister-in-laws, Esther Rodriguez and husband Fernando, and Sandra Hernandez and husband Edgar; and brother-in-law, Jose de Jesus Hernandez and wife Luz. Daniel is also survived by his best buddy, Shilo.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Daniel Galán was an Agriculture and Welding teacher for 32 years at Calexico High School. He mentored and impacted the lives of many youths and was a father figure to them. On more than one occasion students would return to thank him for not giving up on them. He was a wonderful husband, father, brother, and friend to those who knew him. He will be greatly missed.
