Dan taught on year of Ag at Cy-Fair High School 1955-1956

After teaching high school he decided he wanted to be his own boss and started a number of different businesses. He was a true entrepreneur, his first invention was a fly trap that he created, advertised and sold world wide. He was smart enough to get a patton on it before he started to share with others. We have letters from all over where people wanted these to keep their families from being bothered by the flies.

Then he started ranching with his father and raising Red Poll Cattle. He would take his cattle to the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. He eventually had the Grand Champion Bull in 1960. This proved to be a great investment for him and his father. He then expanded his ranch to raising egg production hens (1962). ( White Rock Hens )

In 1970 – 1974 Dan thought he would try his hand at working at K-Mart department store managing all of their gardening departments all over the Greater Houston area.

He then decided it was time to have his own business once aging in 1974. He started his own wood working company. You name it and he could build it. He loved building bird houses and bird feeders.

His final job was going back to working at a department store by the name of Walmart. He worked there full time in the gardening shop. Then he became assistant manager in the hardware department. In 2012 he became the greeter at the front door. Everyone who entered the door always looked forward to his friendly smile. He stayed there until he retired in 2017. One thing his son said was his father knew when he retired, he needed to turn his keys over. He would park his truck and could never remember where to find it.

Dan's faith was fed at a very young age by his parents. He first came to know the Lord at his parents Presbyterian Church until 1968. In 1968 he chose his new church which was of the Lutheran Faith until the day he died.

Dan was always ready to help anyone in need. He loved using his woodworking tools and would be happy to brighten your day with a gift made by his hands.

He trusted in the Lord to use him in anyway possible. He was a man who lived life to give to others.

Dan had been on Stroke Hospice for 5 years One thing he cherished was the time he was able to spend with his family playing dominoes, which he always won. He was a man who could out play you on any given day.

Dan we know you are making heaven a little better for us and will be there greeting us as we enter those pearly gates.
