Dan White McCrary, 72, of Tomball, Texas passed away on Monday, November 26, 2018 surrounded by friends and family.  Dan was born on September 2, 1946 at St. Joseph Hospital in Houston. He graduated from Lamar High School in 1964 and attended Lon Morris College in Jacksonville, TX and Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, where he was an active member in the ATO fraternity.  Dan graduated from South Texas College of Law in 1974.  As a board certified real estate attorney, his law practice spanned over 40 years, and for the past 21 years, Dan worked with his close friend and business partner, Jeff Clark at the firm they founded, McCrary & Clark, LLP.

Prior to attending Stephen F. Austin, Dan obtained his pilot's license.  His first job in Nacogdoches was flying for the Forest Service looking for forest fires.  Flying was a hobby that Dan enjoyed for nearly 50 years. For the past 10 years, Dan even owned his own plane and would fly recreationally when time allowed.  Dan also enjoyed boating. While not in Houston, Dan could usually be found boating on Lake Livingston, a hobby he enjoyed almost as much as flying. Dan's real passion was his family, which included his dogs.  Since 1992, Dan always had a cocker Spaniel or two.

Dan is preceded in death by his parents, Dan McCrary and Mary-Kate White McCrary, and his ancestors.  He is survived by his wife Donna, sons Daniel McCrary and David McCrary, and David's wife Ashlee and daughters Rylie and Remy, and daughter Tiffany Patterson and husband Ray of Plantersville, mother-in-law Bettie Jo Washburn and numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews, and friends.

A celebration of Dan's life will be held on Monday, December 3, 2018 with visitation at 10 a.m. and service at 11 a.m. at Tomball United Methodist Church followed by a graveside service at Laurel Hills Cemetery in Coldspring, Texas at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Houston Cocker Spaniel Rescue, Tomball United Methodist Church, or to a charity of your choice.
