Obituary

Daniel Francis King

Daniel (Dan) Francis King, age 73, passed away peacefully in his Houston, Texas home while surrounded by family on the morning of Sunday, Oct. 18, 2020.  Dan was born in Spokane, Washington on April 6, 1947, to the late John Daniel King and Betty June Tobiason King. Dan's parents John and Betty King, sister Sheila King Levendafske, daughter Lynda Koenen, grandson Axel Muckleroy and former wife Ann Pratt preceded him in death.

Dan was a passionate member of his church and steadfast volunteer for all those in need. On Sunday mornings you could always find him wearing blue jeans on golf cart number nine, as he transported the congregation through the church parking lot. He loved others unconditionally and shined the brightest when sharing the Word of the Lord. He continually strengthened his walk with the Lord, standing in his own faith and handing out Gideon Bibles to all those who were in need of light. Dan led so many to know the Lord, sharing his testimony for all that can be accomplished as a part of God's Kingdom, "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations." – Matthew 28:19

In his earlier days, Dan attended Eastern Washington and his barrel chest reigned him successful as a wrestler and all-city shot put champion. Throughout his years, Dan treasured spending time on the water, either fishing or enjoying good company with his toes in the sand. Dan was a trusted businessman who supported his family by bringing his honest heart to the insurance industry. The love he gave to his family and friends was unmatched - he relished the moments spent with his wife, kids, grandkids, great grandkids, siblings, and friends. Every experience and conversation with Dan was a "good time" and included a heavy dose of laughter. Ensuring others were happy and enjoying what each day had to offer was Dan's life mission. He cared deeply, and that kindness was felt by anyone lucky enough to be in his presence.

Dan leaves behind a large family who will miss him every day, his precious wife Cecil Ann King; daughter April Muckleroy and husband Jory; son Adam King and wife Brandy; daughter Lisa Clark and husband Joe; daughter Patti Peters and husband Andre; son in law David Koenen; brother Michael King and wife Mary Carol; sister Bernadette Felice King; sister Christine King; sister Kathleen King; granddaughters Haylie, Karlie, and Emory Muckleroy; grandsons Carter, Campbell, and Colton King; grandsons Joey and Steven Clark; granddaughter Rachael Jackson; grandsons Andre Jr., Danny, and Jacob Peters; granddaughter Tamara Koenen; grandsons Geoffrey and Andrew Koenen; great grandsons Joseph and Trevor Clark; great granddaughter Faye Clark; great granddaughter Elisabeth Jackson; and dog Sugar Bee. Dan's memory lives on in the hearts of all his extended family and close friends.

The Burial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 23, 2020 at Champion Forest Baptist Church with Pastor Ed Etheridge officiating.  Public visitation one hour prior. Interment will follow at Klein Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial Contributions can be made to the Gideons; an organization that is close to the family's heart.

Pallbearers:  Carter King, Geoffrey Koenen, Andrew Koenen, Andre Peters Jr., Danny Peters, Jakob Peters.

Dan was a loving husband, devoted father, cherished brother, extraordinary grandfather, and trusted friend. Dan lived his life with a joyful heart. He made others smile effortlessly with each interaction and heaven certainly has a bit more laughter now that Dan has arrived at his permanent home.
