Dale Anthony Tar, 76, of Boca Raton, FL, passed away on April 13, 2026, in Spring, TX.

Born on May 27, 1949, in Chicago, IL, to Frank and Dolores Tar, Dale graduated from Thornridge High School in June 1968. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and served until June 1971, including a tour in Vietnam, where he earned a Bronze Star.

Dale went on to earn an Associate's degree in Computer Science from Purdue University Calumet in Hammond, IN. He worked for 30 years at IL Bell / Ameritech / AT&T until his retirement. Dale lived a full life of family, cooking, fishing, British mysteries, and travel – visiting 6 continents with his wife of thirty-one years, Cynthia.

Dale was a dedicated husband, parent, and grandparent. He is preceded in death by his wife, Cynthia (née Osborne) Tar; parents, Frank and Dolores (née Barbeauld) Tar; brother, Gary Tar; and sister, Laura (née Tar) Wiist. He is survived by his son, Jeff (JoEllyn) Tar; daughter, Becky (née Tar) Bierlein; four grandchildren, Katherine (Ryan) Skoruppa, Meghan (Jordan) Hansen, Abigail Bierlein, and Luke Bierlein; and two great-grandchildren, Henry David Hansen and Scottie Kate Skoruppa.

A celebration of Dale's life will be held during the summer of 2026 at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IL. Details to follow.
