Dale O'Neil Spires was born November 10, 1930 in Marfa, Texas to parents Dean Reginald Spires and Maxine Knutti Spires. He passed from this life on June 17, 2024.

During the depression times got tough and Dean moved his young family from Marfa to El Paso for work. The family remained in El Paso making it their home. The family attended the First Baptist Church and Dale gave testimony that he received Christ as his savior as a young boy. After graduating from Austin High School in El Paso, Texas he attended University of Texas at El Paso. Soon after he transferred to UT at Austin where he received his master's degree in Civil Engineering. He began his career in Los Angeles California but soon after joined the United States Navy serving his country during the Korean War.

After receiving an honorable discharge from the military, he was employed by Humble Oil Company (Esso Exploration) in Houston, Texas where he met and married Anna Louise Saizan. They had three children, Stuart Dale, Trinetta Lynn, and Laura Beth.

His career took the family to Pleasanton, Texas; Sale, Australia; New Orleans, Louisiana; Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and finally back to settle in the Houston area in 1975. After the passing of his wife in 2021, Dale moved to Boerne, Texas where he lived with his children until the time of his
death.

His was preceded in death by both his parents, his wife of 64 years Anna Louise Spires, his sister Patricia Lynn Mill, and nephew Robert Hardy. He is survived by his three children, Stuart Spires, Laura Spires and Trinetta Anthony and husband Donnie Anthony, three grandchildren, Ryan
Taylor Anthony, Joshua Blake Anthony, Dillon Christopher Anthony, and two great grandchildren Atticus Taylor Anthony, and Oliver Wayne Anthony along with 11 loving nieces and nephews.

Dale was a devoted husband and father and spent his life caring for his family. When the children were younger, he loved watching them compete in sports and rarely missed a game. He and Anna truly loved traveling across Texas and Louisiana in their motorhome visiting family and friends. Those close to him loved his creative and dry sense of humor. He and Anna were very generous and throughout their married life often found ways of supporting others in need.

He will be truly missed by all those who were blessed to know him.
