Obituary

On May 11, 1925, a bundle of joy named Daisy Evelyn was born to William and Adina Harty.  She was the second of three children born to her parents.  She spent most of life in New York City, completing her education, working for N.Y.C., and meeting and marrying her now deceased husband, Alfred De Windt.

She graduated from Central Commercial H.S. During her career, she worked as a secretary, administrative assistant, and lead administrative assistant.  She worked several positions with her final job being with New York City Department of Air Resources.  She was a member of the Communication Workers Union.

Daisy and Alfred gave birth to four beautiful girls: Denise Elizabeth (deceased), Yvette Marie, Linda Kimberly, and Victoria Helene.  She believed getting an education was critical.  "You will never move forward without an education and you will end up working in Horn and Hardart (fast food restaurant)."  So all the girls missed many a party and time with friends to achieve A's and B's.   They all went to college, attaining degrees of B.A., B.S, Masters, and Doctorate.  Way to go Daisy!

She was a voracious reader.  You never saw her without a book or magazine.  Her favorite book was the Bible.  She read it daily, writing out her favorite passages and what they meant to her that day.  She was a praying person and believed in the power of prayer.

On December 30, 2017, at the age of 92, God called her home. Her parents, her sister and brother, Vincent and Carmen, and her daughter, Denise Elizabeth, preceded her in death.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory three daughters Yvette, Kimberly, and Victoria; her eight grandchildren, Romany, Lecina, Jabir, Taheera, Zarinah, Diana, Andrew, And Danielle; and 17 great grand children.

"Blessed are they that mourn, for they shall be comforted."
