Cynthia Ann Mahon, 88, born on March 26, 1938, passed away peacefully and is now reunited with her beloved husband of 50 years, William Mahon, who preceded her in death.
She is survived by her daughter, Brenda Byrne; son-in-law, J.T. Byrne; granddaughter, Kacey Pankonien, and her husband, Will Pankonien; grandson, Mitchell Byrne; great-grandson, Cameron Byrne; and sister, Edith Graham.
Cynthia was known by many names throughout her life. Cindy, Cyn Cyn, and Mamaw, to name a few. She and Bill enjoyed spending evenings at the bowling alley, where they were active members of a bowling league. When they weren't knocking down pins, they could often be found spending time with family in Galveston or enjoying an evening of square dancing together.
A devoted football fan, Cynthia passionately supported both the Houston Oilers and the Houston Texans. She even kept detailed records of scores and player statistics in an extensive scrapbook, reflecting her love of the game.
Above all else, Cynthia cherished time spent with family and friends. Whether playing card games, board games, bingo, or Po-Ke-No, she brought joy and laughter to every gathering. With Mamaw, every night was game night. She was also known for her potato salad. It was a family favorite that was always a hit at gatherings, and Brenda still uses her recipe to this day.
After a day of activities and adventures, Cynthia enjoyed relaxing with her favorite television shows. She faithfully recorded every episode and always had several series she was following at any given time. She had a wonderful sense of humor and accepted the playful teasing of her family with a smile.
Cynthia was deeply loved by all who knew her. Her kindness, warmth, and joyful spirit will be greatly missed and fondly remembered.
