Our Savior Jesus Christ has destroyed death and brought life and immortality to light through the Gospel.  Let us remember with thanksgiving what God has done through His servant Cynthia.

Cynthia Christy Durst, also known as Gigi, passed away on December 11, 2023, at the age of 76 in The Wood-lands, Texas. She was born on July 20, 1947, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Cynthia was a beautiful, loving, and caring woman full of dignity and charm. She had a remarkable ability to make everything around her more enjoyable, leaving a lasting impact on those she encountered.

Cynthia was deeply devoted to her husband of 54 years, Dr. John Durst while her son, John with wife Heather, and grandchildren McKenna, Mason, Madison, held a special place in her heart. She could often be found sup-porting them at various events for the Trinity Klein Eagles, Concordia Crusaders or Tomball Cougars whenever her health allowed. Family meant everything to Cynthia, and she cherished the time spent with her loved ones.  In her younger years, you would find her tailgating with family and friends at many Texas Longhorn games.

In her educational pursuits, Cynthia attended Crockett High School before obtaining a degree in education from the University of Sam Houston. Although she initially pursued a career in teaching, she soon discovered that a room full of kindergartners was not her calling.  While her husband attended medical school in San Antonio, Cynthia became the Director of the Continuing Education program at the University of Texas Dental School.  Following this, in 1982, she became office manager and the brains behind her husband's OB/GYN practice in The Woodlands, a roll she held until her retirement in 2008.

Cynthia grew up as a member of the First United Methodist Church in Crockett, Texas. Her faith provided her with hope and strength throughout her life.
Outside of her professional and familial responsibilities, Cynthia had a passion for cooking and interior decorating. She possessed a talent for transforming her home into a warm and festive environment, embracing the beau-ty of each season. Cynthia also shared a love for travel with her husband and family, exploring various corners of the world together.

A Celebration of Life to honor and celebrate Cynthia's life will be held on Wednesday, December 20 at 2:30 PM at Trinity Klein Lutheran Church, located at 5201 Spring Cypress Rd., Spring, TX 77379. A visitation will begin at 1:30 p.m.

Cynthia Christy Durst will be deeply missed by her surviving loved ones, including her spouse, Dr. John Durst, her son, John Durst, her daughter-in-law, Heather Durst, and her grandchildren, McKenna, Mason, and Mad-ison Durst. She is also survived by her sisters, Nora (Bob) Hunting, Julie Covert, and Bobbie Maples, brother-in-law, Jay (Lilly) Durst, nieces and nephews Paul (Heather) Hunting, Kathy Hunting and Jeff Deitchman, Lisa (Glenn) Whitlock, Connie Keith (Sam), Bob (Catherine) Maples, John Andrew Durst, and David (Amanda) Durst.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Pearl Putnam Christy, her father, Robert Putnam, and her stepfather, Carl Christy.

On December 11, 2023, God received Cynthia home to rest in the arms of Jesus to await the resurrection of the dead.  The Lord gives and the Lord takes away; blessed be the name of the Lord.  We give thanks to God our Father through Jesus Christ, our Lord, for our sister, Cynthia.
