It is with great sadness that we announce that Curtis Lynn Shuey, known to friends as "Buddy", passed away on April 5, 2019, at the age of 59.

Curtis was born in Carlsbad, NM on July 30, 1959 to Eugene Shuey Sr. and Ethelyn Croley-Shuey. In 1978 Curtis graduated from Frendship High School, earning recognition for his stellar play on the football field. Curtis continued his education at South Plains College, receiving a degree in Applied Science and Drafting Technology.
Starting his career at Honeywell International in Albuquerque, Curtis worked in the aviation and oil and gas industries for nearly three decades. During a diverse career that included working in New Mexico, Texas, and Florida Curtis contributed to a multitude of projects, including SpaceX and Boeing.

Curtis found love in the form of a re-connected childhood acquaintance, Cindi Anderson Shuey. The two would go on to marry on May 30, 2010.

A man of strong belief and conviction, Curtis was a devout follower of Jesus Christ. To those closest to him, his personal relationship with God was plain to see in his humble nature and generous spirit. Well-known for his skill both on the grill and in the garden, Curtis was happiest surrounded by family. He also loved flying, football, and floating the river. Soft-spoken but with a strong presence, Curtis had a knack for making those around him feel at ease. He was a loving son, husband, father, brother, friend, and brother in Christ and will be remembered fondly by all who knew him.

Curtis is survived by his parents; wife Cindi; brother Gene; sons, Christopher, Chad and wife Janice, Clay and wife Angie; daughter Kristie and boyfriend Matthew; and grandchildren, Lindsey, Colbey, and Eleanor.

A celebration of Curtis's life will be held Tuesday, April 9, at 2pm at Klein Funeral Home. Memorial donations in memory of Curtis can be made to the American Heart Association.
