Obituary

Cristine Turpin, 60, passed away on December 29, 2017, with her family by her side in Houston, Texas.

A memorial service will be held at 9:00am on Saturday, January 6, 2018, at Trinity Klein Lutheran  Church in Spring, Texas.

Cris was born on July 30, 1957, in Omaha, Nebraska to Shirley and David Rieke. Her father worked in the fire protection industry and her mother worked as a Registered Dietitian for 55 years in various facilities.  They moved from Omaha, Nebraska to Kansas City, Kansas in 1970 and then to Denver, Colorado in 1973.

Cris spent most of her childhood summers reading, building sandcastles with her cousins and swimming at Hanson's Lake in Omaha.   She graduated from Pomona High School in Arvada, Colorado in 1975. She attended college at the University of Colorado – Denver. Shortly after she met Robert Turpin and on January 14, 1978, they were married. They lived in Oklahoma for several years before returning to Colorado where they had all three of their children, Matthew, Leah and Jennifer. Cris was a homemaker, exercise instructor and school aide while Robert worked in the oil and gas industry.

She became a member of the Trinity Klein Lutheran Church when her family moved to Tomball, Texas in 1990.

Cris' interests included her family, cooking, sports, animals and reading. She devoted much of her time and energy as a caregiver to family members.

Cris is survived by her mother, Shirley Rieke; brother, Bradley Rieke and his spouse Cynthia Martinez and their two daughters Catie and Crissy Rieke; son, Matthew Turpin and his spouse Christa Turpin;
daughter, Leah Turpin and her spouse Kerwin Vanfield; daughter, Jennifer Turpin; and 2 grandchildren, Halle and Macy Vanfield.

She was preceded in death by her father, David Rieke in 2001 and her husband, Robert Turpin in 2011.

Donations may be sent to Trinity Lutheran Klein Church or Houston Methodist Hospital.
