Creston Clay "Woody" Woodson, aged 81, passed away on August 17, 2024, in Cypress, TX. Born on October 12, 1942, in Eubank, KY, Woody was known for his witty sense of humor and generous spirit.

Woody graduated from Eubank High School and the University of Kentucky. He proudly served in the Air Force from 1963 to 1966. After finishing school and his military service, Woody moved to Port Arthur, TX, where he began his career as an Electrical Engineer with Texaco (now Motiva Enterprises). He remained with the company throughout his career and retired from Motiva Enterprises in 2001.

Although Woody was a longtime Texas resident, he was proud of his Kentucky roots. He was a devoted fan of the Kentucky Wildcats and was honored to be designated as a Kentucky Colonel. An avid golfer, Woody was most proud of his Hole in One at Blackhorse Golf Club on August 14, 2012. If he wasn't golfing, he was fishing. Woody also loved tending to his tomato garden every fall and spring. One of his greatest joys was sharing his tomatoes and homemade hot sauce with everyone he knew. He loved to cook for all of his family and especially enjoyed making a big pot of gumbo to send home with everyone.

Woody is survived by his loving wife, Pat Woodson; daughters Karen Mitchell and her husband Blake of The Woodlands, TX, Karla Vacek and her husband Trent of Katy, TX, and Kim Tanner and her husband Brian of Cypress, TX. He was also a cherished grandfather to Camryn, Carson, Rob, Carly, Annie, and Ava Tanner; Brenna Mitchell; and Kyle and Mason Vacek. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews whom he loved dearly.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John David and Grace Woodson, and his siblings Howard, J.D., Joe, Curt, Eddie and Ronald Woodson, Virginia Harmon, Hila Williams, Carol Lawall, and Joyce Broughton.

Woody will be remembered for his sense of humor, dedication to his family, and his service to his country. He made a lasting impact on all who knew him and will be deeply missed.

Visitation will be held at BlackHorse Golf Club (12205 Fry Rd, Cypress, TX 77433) on Saturday, September 7, 2024 at 2:00, followed by a Celebration of Life at 3:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the University of Kentucky's engineering general scholarship fund in Memory of Creston Woodson.
