?Craig L. Petty died at his home in Phoenix, Arizona, on January 12, 2017, at the age of 53.
Craig was born July 28, 1963, in Dumas, Texas. He grew up in Houston where he graduated from Eisenhower High School in 1981 and then earned his B.S. in Computer Science from Texas A&M in 1987. He was employed as a software engineer at Axway, Inc., in Phoenix.
Craig's greatest joy was singing with the Phoenix Symphony Chorus and with his church choir. He adored the good friends he had made; many had become his family away from home. When he was home, he enjoyed acting like a "kid" and clowning around with his nephew, Jack, and his niece, Rose. At least we know he is in heaven now, joyfully praising the Lord with his beautiful voice.
Craig is survived by his loving parents, Mike and Carol Petty; his sister and brother-in-law, Cheryl and Russell Herdejurgen; his nephew, Jack Herdejurgen; his niece, Rose Herdejurgen; and his aunts, uncles, and cousins who loved him.
Visitation will begin at 12 p.m. Monday, January 23, at Crossroads Baptist Church, 5000 College Park Drive, The Woodlands, TX 77384, where funeral services will immediately follow at 1 p.m. Interment will take place in Klein Memorial Park in Magnolia, TX.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the following Lutheran ministry where Craig previously volunteered: Holden Village, HC 0 Box 2, Chelan, WA 98816-9769, Attention: Contributions.
Special thanks to the many friends who sent their condolences. What a comfort to know of others who love and will miss our precious Craig.
