Cory Howell Hollingsworth, 42, of Houston, Texas, passed away on July 12, 2026, just three days after his birthday. Born on July 9, 1984, in Jacksonville, Florida, Cory was a man who lived life fully, loved deeply, and never met a project he couldn't tackle.
Cory graduated from Dobie High School in 2002, where he played golf and first showed the easygoing, fun-loving personality that would define him for the rest of his life. He went on to attend the University of Houston, where he became a proud member of Sigma Nu Fraternity. Never one to sit still, Cory served as the house manager, putting his natural Mr. Fix-it skills to good use keeping things running smoothly for his brothers. While he proudly repped his Cougars, he still held a special place in his heart for the Florida Gators, a loyalty he carried with him from his Jacksonville roots.
Cory married Jessica, and together they welcomed their daughter, Layla, who was without question the light of his life. Anyone who knew Cory could see just how much he adored that little girl.
When he wasn't spending time with his family, Cory could be found doing just about anything with his hands. He was always working on a home project, whether inside or out, tinkering on his car, or fine-tuning his music setup. He had a real passion for music, and it was a constant thread running through his days.
Cory loved fishing, hunting, camping, cooking for friends and family and simply having a good time with the people he cared about. We can't leave out how much he enjoyed his beach going days and surf-fishing with his Nanny. Cory was the kind of guy who made everything more fun just by being there.
Cory is survived by his daughter, Layla Hollingsworth; his mother, Linda Hollingsworth; his father, Hal Hollingsworth (Vicki); his sister, Rachel Hollingsworth Letro (Thomas); his former wife Jessica (Mata) Hollingsworth along with many other family members and friends who loved him dearly.
Cory was a man of faith who attended St. Stephen's United Methodist Church and found comfort in his relationship with God. His family takes solace in knowing he is at peace in the arms of his Creator, free from the struggles of this world.
