Obituary

Connie Crenshaw Dyer was born November 6, 1943, in Houston, Texas, the only child of Reuben and Ladain Crenshaw. Connie passed peacefully, in her sleep into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on January 15, 2025.

Connie graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School in Houston.  She earned a Bachelor of Science in Education at Univ. of North Texas and years later obtained her Real Estate Sales License. Connie's love for people was a major key to her success in all her endeavors.  In 1961, Connie met Ben Dyer, a young Pharmacy Student who was attending The University of Houston. She and Ben married upon his graduation from Pharmacy School. Three years later, Ben joined the Army Medical Service Corp, and they left Houston for a three-year military tour of duty in Wurzburg, W. Germany. Connie's first teaching assignment at The Wurzburg School was teaching Kindergarten to children of Army Personnel. Their daughter, Farlee, was born in their second year there. Upon their return to Houston, Connie began her teaching career in the Spring I.S.D.  Their family was completed in 1972 with the birth of their son, David.  Connie quickly began her service as a volunteer where she held numerous leadership positions in the non-profit sector. As a member of Cypress-Woodlands Junior Forum, Connie served in many leadership roles and absolutely loved it. She also volunteered at Northwest Assistance Ministries. Connie and Ben joined St. Dunstan's Episcopal Church in 1973, where Connie served on the Vestry, taught Children's Liturgy, mentored Kid's Hope and was a member of the DOK, ECW and Altar Guild. In 1989, Connie obtained her real estate license and became active in new home sales. She loved sales and thrived on helping people with these major life decisions.

Connie loved life and lived it to the fullest. She loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, her family, her community, and she loved helping her fellow man. She always felt she had been blessed beyond measure and that indeed, God had blessed her and her family to be a Blessing to others. She lived an incredibly grateful, Christ filled life and wanted that for others she encountered. Connie was always a loving, gentle, sweet, and precious spirit who loved to laugh and enjoy her friends and family. Connie's family extends its heartfelt gratitude to all friends, caregivers & countless "angels" who supported Connie during her extended battle with Alzheimer's.

Connie is preceded in death by her father, Reuben Crenshaw and her mother, Ladain Anderson. Her survivors include her loving husband, Ben, daughter, Farlee Dyer, son, David Dyer and wife Julie. Surviving grandchildren include Cecelia Satterthwaite and husband Wylie, Jessica Daniels and husband Jeremiah, Katherine Dyer, Anjali Gaalla, and Aryan Gaalla.

In lieu of flowers, the family would be honored if contributions were made to the church she loved and where she always found inspiration and solace:   St. Dunstan's Episcopal Church, 14301 Stuebner-Airline Rd., Houston, Texas 77069 or Saintdunstans.org
