Connie Lee Dean, 72, a resident of Houston passed peacefully Saturday, January 25, 2020, at MD Anderson Hospital with her family by her side. Connie was born in Houston, Texas on June 18, 1947 to John Crossland and Wanda Cahill but raised by her grandmother until her grandmother's passing. She was a stay at home mom who was dedicated to raising her two children. She enjoyed listening to Motown music, watching scary movies, cooking for family and friends, and most importantly, spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Connie was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, and two sisters. Survivors include her partner of 27 years, Wayne Denman; son James Srkala and daughter-in-law Juanita of Katy, Texas; daughter Michelle Riter and son-in-law Bill of Katy, Texas; three grandchildren, James Srkala with Brittany Lee of Magnolia, Texas, Christa Riter of San Marcos, Texas and Jonathan Riter of Katy, Texas, three great-grandchildren, Connor, Grayson and Hunter; one brother, and three sisters. We would like to give a special, heartfelt thank you to Dr. Vaporciyan (Dr. V) Carla Patel, RN, ACNP and the attentive staff of MD Anderson Hospital for going above and beyond to make Connie's courageous battle after cancer, as comforting as possible. You cared for our mother and grandmother as if she was your own and for that, we will be forever grateful.
To honor Connie's compassionate heart, loving spirit, quick-witted sense of humor, and immeasurable strength the family will hold a Celebration of Life Memorial with details forthcoming.
