Clifford Ray Cook, Sr., 80, of Tomball, passed away March 12, 2018. He was born May 27, 1937, in Harris County, Texas to the late Arthur Milage Cook and Bessie Richardson Cook.
Clifford. Daddy. Paw Paw.
Clifford was born in simpler times, but not necessarily easier. He grew up on a farm. He walked three miles to school each day. He was a hard, tireless worker with the knees and back as testaments. Clifford exemplified old world work ethics.
He lived life passionately. He enjoyed fishing and hunting, working on his antique John Deere tractors, watching Westerns, playing poker and Flaming 7s. But whatever he did, he preferred it with friends and family. He was a loyal friend and a proud father. He found happiness not in material possessions but rather the fellowship.
His house was always open. Often the host of holidays and celebrations, Clifford loved cooking dinner. Spaghetti and meatballs with sweet cornbread. Pork chops. Greens. Ribs. Cabbage. Chicken and dumplings. And, of course, sweet tea by the gallon.
Clifford was a kind and tenderhearted man. Always there to lend a helping hand, he was generous to a fault. He would break his back helping others and give them his last dime without regards to his own needs. Even in his time of sickness, he never wanted to bother or burden others but rather wanted to know how he could help.
He was a devoted husband whose bride preceded him to Heaven twelve years ago. He enjoyed his remaining time on Earth with his friends and family but always longed to rejoin his true love. He finally has his wish.
He is survived by his daughter, Patricia Cook Wagner and husband Adam; sons, Clifford Ray Cook, Jr. and wife Patty, and Clint Ryan Cook and Sheri; grandchildren Ryan Cook, Clay Cook, Ashley Mcdougall , Gage Cook, Wyatt Cook and Noah Cook; great grandchildren, Caleb Mcdougall , Riley Mcdougall , Bradley Cook, Matthew Cook, and Analynn Cook; and sister, Betty Taliaferro.
Including his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Ruth Cook; brothers, Bill Cook and Author Lee Cook; and sister, Ima Jean Fisher.
