Born March 9, 1951 to Hallie Mae and Henry Clayton Anglin in Hamilton, TX as the youngest of two older brothers, Charles (Lanita) of Fossil, OR and Ray (Virginia) of Brownwood, TX, Claydene entered the gates of her eternal heavenly home Saturday, August 15, 2020.

Always a kind and smart young lady, she excelled in school, was active in church, was beloved by her Brownwood High School teachers and peers, danced as a Lionette on the drill team, then attended Howard Payne University, where she earned the title "Miss Howard Payne (HPC)" in 1973 and participated in the Delta Chi Rho sorority. It was at Howard Payne that she formed a forever friendship with her SOSers, or Sisters of the Seventies as she affectionately called them.

Immediately following her college graduation, she met Jimmy Van Glynn in Brownwood, TX. Having set his sights on the most beautiful woman he'd ever seen (not to mention, the "nicest person we know"), the two were married August 10, 1974. Post college, she substitute taught, worked for the Neiman Marcus travel service, lived in College Station while working at the Texas A&M Office of the Registrar, then she and her groom eventually moved to Abilene. Before children – or "B.C." as she called it – she taught History for a brief stint leading to the birth of their first daughter Rebekah Kathryn (Robert) O'Sullivan of Houston in 1980. Erin Leigh Glynn of Salt Lake City would follow in 1982, then Melissa Anne (Anthony) Charles of Houston, TX in 1986. Their fourth daughter, Anna Lisa (Juan) Pereira of Baton Rouge was born in 1988, then commenced the lifelong declaration of "I named all my children normal names."

Once all of her "chickadees" were in school, Claydene returned to teaching and, until moving to Louisiana in 1998, taught Texas History at Jefferson Middle School. She would continue her teaching career in Mandeville, LA - this time, middle school music. She mastered mall concerts, juggled an impossible amount of 4th-6th graders, fostered talent in so many young voices, and invested so much time, energy, heart, and soul into her countless music lessons…all while being number one cheerleader for each of her girls and her rockstar husband. She retired from St. Tammany Parish schools in 2014 but still kept up the sweet friends she made at TMS.

Sweet friends were also made at her church homes (First Christian Church Abilene, First Baptist Church Covington, and St. John's Lutheran Cypress just to name a few). She fully understood the power of fellowship, ardent worship, faithful giving, and humbling service. She was an active participant in weekly bible studies, a constant smile in the pews, a mighty prayer warrior, a beautiful singer, a compassionate empathizer, and a loyal friend always willing to save you a seat.

Van and Claydene moved to Cypress in 2017 to be closer to family and their precious grandchildren, Harlie Kate (8) and Grayson James (6) who lovingly referred to her as their Mere and who she fiercely loved. In retirement, she enjoyed spending time with family, including her San Angelo in-laws, catching up with her SOS group and old friends, keeping up with her sports, and rooting for ALL of her teams: Saints, Aggies, Tigers, "Dukies," Astros, and the underdogs. And speaking of dogs, she loved all of her granddogs – always volunteering to help any way she could, be it extra play time and attention or cost-free boarding. We know that even our pups will miss their Mere.

Claydene is preceded in death by her beloved parents, Henry Clayton and Hallie Mae, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. She is survived by her faithful husband of 46 years, Jimmy Van Glynn; her daughters Rebekah, Erin, Melissa, and Anna; her sons-in-law Robert, Juan, and Anthony; her grandchildren Harlie and Grayson O'Sullivan; her brothers Charles and Ray; her sisters-in-law Lanita Anglin, Virginia Anglin, and Jan (Doug) Kure of San Angelo; her father and mother-in-law James & Peggy Glynn; her nieces Carlita Anglin (Pat) Didner, Ashlie (Alex) Murchison; her nephews Brian (Kara) Anglin, Daniel (Amanda) Kure, Andrew Kure; numerous cousins, extended family members, and friends who she always counted as her brothers and sisters in Christ. To the nicest person we know, the healer of the boo boos, the peacemaker in the arguments, the light in every dim room, the miracle worker of a mom, the roadie, best friend & confidant of a wife, the shoulder we cried on, and the loudest proclaimer of joy and blessings – this short description of your purpose-filled life pales in comparison to the legacy you've left for all in your wake. You truly left this place better than you found it, you left us better than you found us, and we know you left Earth ready to greet us on the streets of gold.
