Claudio G. Garcia's Obituary
Claudio G. Garcia, 67, passed away July 5, 2017 in Houston, Texas.
Claudio was born in Mathis, Texas, to Claudio and Aurora Garcia on January 27, 1950. He was big brother and role model to his siblings, Corey, Joyce, Judy, and Nicky; loving husband to Anna; devoted daddy to Veronica and Melinda; and adoring Welo to John Ryan, Andrew, and Victoria.
Claudio went to high school at Orange Grove High School and graduated in 1967. He went on to earn a degree in Education and later earned his Masters Degree as an Educational Administrator from Texas A&I University. He was a teacher, coach, fearless leader, and positive influence to thousands of students, teachers, and colleagues for 41 years. Upon his retirement in 2013, he was honored by the governor of the State of Texas with a proclamation declaring December 11 as "Claudio Garcia Day." He was a firm believer in the power of prayer and an education. He enjoyed football, baseball, track, hunting, fishing, watching movies, and spending time with his family. During football season, he could be found on the sidelines cheering on his Cy Ridge Rams. He was tough, but compassionate, and he never missed the opportunity for a hug and a smile.
Claudio was preceded in death by his parents, Claudio and Aurora.
He is survived by his wife, Anna Garcia of Houston; daughter, Veronica Garcia Fassett; daughter, Melinda (Cindy) Garcia; three grandchildren, John Ryan, Andrew Joseph, and Victoria Rose Fassett; brother, Corando (Sharon) Garcia; sister, Joyce (Layo Mata) Petersen; Judy (Maria) Garcia; and Cesar Nicky (Rosie) Garcia; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, July 9, at Klein Funeral Home - CyFair Northwest, 9719 Wortham Boulevard, Houston, TX 77065, with the Rosary to begin at 7 p.m. The F
uneral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 10, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, Houston. Interment will be private.
