Obituary

Claudia Cantini Hinojosa was born in Galveston, Texas on January 17, 1960. She entered into rest peacefully on Tuesday, April 12, 2022. She was preceded in death by her father, Clarence C. Cantini, mother Angela G. Cantini, mother-in-law Ardath Hinojosa and niece Claire Cantini.

Claudia is survived by her husband of 37 years, Lance Hinojosa, son Cameron Hinojosa, wife Victoria and granddaughter Paige, son Mitchell Hinojosa and wife Elizabeth. She is also survived by her sisters, Irene Hernandez and husband Raymond, Linette Cantini, Julie Cantini, her brother Stephen Cantini, father-in-law Alberto Hinojosa, nieces Cara Poss and husband Jerrod, Britney Niccolai, Angela Niccolai, Katrina Cantini, nephew Chase Niccolai and numerous extended family members.

Claudia was very proud to be BOI (Born on the Island) and graduated from Galveston Ball High School in 1978. She continued her education at Southwest Texas State University (Class of 1982) where she met the man who would become her husband, Lance.

Claudia built a community of friends with her loving personality and giving heart. She maintained many lifelong friendships from her high school and college years as well as her time working at UT Medical Branch, UT Health Science Center and Cypress-Fairbanks ISD. She also made numerous close friends through Cameron and Mitchell's sporting activities, especially baseball.

As a woman of unwavering faith, Claudia was an active member of Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church. She was also a member of the Saint Joseph's Altar Society where she enjoyed preparing traditional Italian baked goods, true to her heritage, to raise money for the less fortunate.

A Memorial Mass will be held at Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church located at 11507 Huffmeister Road Houston, Texas 77065 at 11:00 AM on Thursday, May 19th with a visitation prior to Mass beginning at 10:00 AM. A reception will be held following the Mass at the Messiah Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall, 11522 Telge Road Cypress, TX 77429. Claudia will be interred at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Galveston, Texas in a private family service.

The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and support staff of MD Anderson Cancer Center and Vitas Healthcare Hospice for their compassionate care during her 20-year battle with cancer. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that a donation be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or MD Anderson Cancer Center.
