Claude Matthew Wooten, Jr.
May 10, 1937 – July 9, 2023

Claude Matthew Wooten, Jr. was born on May 10, 1937, to Claude Matthew Wooten, Sr. and
Olivia Marie Fontenot in Eunice, Louisiana. He went to be with the Lord at the age of 86 on July
9, 2023. He is preceded in death by his parents: father, Claude Matthew Wooten, Sr.; mom, Olivia
Marie Fontenot; sister, Nell Ruth; and son, Robert Keith Wooten.
He is survived by: his wife, Patricia K. Wooten; sister, Dorothy Lee Wooten Granger; ex-wife, Lee
Anna Dalton; children, Ray Matthew Wooten, spouse, Elinor Amy Wooten, Adrian Dennis
Wooten, spouse Marylinda Wooten, Glen Thomas Wooten, spouse, Charlotte Wooten, and
Wanda Faye Wooten; step-children, Penelope McFadin, Samantha M. Kramr, spouse, Chris
Kramr, and Jason Paris; as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Claude worked for NASA for over 40 years. He was first listed in the MSC phone book in 1962 in
the Electric Systems Branch and again in 1963 in the Instrumentation and Electronics
Division. From 1964 to 1983, he was listed in the Electromagnetic Systems/EE3 (in
Instrumentation Electronic Systems Division/Space Electronic Systems Division/Telemetry
Communications Systems Division). From 1983 until his retirement in 2005 (last time that he is
listed in the JSC phone books), he was in the Propulsion and Power Division/EP6 (Thermochemical
Test Branch, later renamed, the Energy Systems Test Branch).
Claude was a loving husband and a devoted father that was always involved in and provided for
his children's and step-children's academic activities. He was his children's little league baseball
coach while they were young and would proudly record any of their concerts or plays to be later
viewed by everyone. He always loved baseball and the Houston Astros. He enjoyed jazz, big band,
and classical music, especially Andrea Bocelli. He was a faithful member of Clear Lake
Presbyterian Church volunteering in the sound booth. He loved camping in the mountains and
traveling the world.
The memorial service will be held at Clear Lake Presbyterian Church, 1511 El Dorado Boulevard,
Houston, TX 77062, on August 5, 2023, at 11:00 am. .
