Clarence Edward "Eddie" Lee, 77 years old, of Cypress, TX, passed from this life to eternal life with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on 1-22-25 after a long battle with cancer.

Eddie wants people to remember him as:

"An imperfect man, saved by accepting Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior.

Saved by God's grace, not anything Eddie did."

His favorite Bible verse was Ephesians 2: 8-10 (New American Standard):

8 For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; 9 not as a result of works, so that no one may boast.10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them.

Eddie was ready to leave his home on Earth because he KNEW he was going to heaven. No more pain and no more illness. He also wants to see family and friends there, so his prayer for everyone was that they would accept Jesus Christ.

Eddie was born on 8-31-47 and was the oldest of six children (Eddie, Vernon, Monty, Robert, Richard, and Kathleen), born to Clarence Herbert Lee and Thelma Evelyn Reynolds Lee in Houston, TX. On June 20, 1971, Eddie married Debra Lynn Johnson, and together they were blessed with three sons: Jason, Jeremy, and Nathan. Five years ago, they were also blessed with the marriage of Nathan and his wife, Greta, along with Oliver, our adopted grandson. Then their lives were changed again when Nathan and Greta blessed us all with a precious granddaughter, Violet. Eddie loved spending time with this big blessing. He also got a new name: PopPop. Violet turned him into a child again. They played and laughed and picked at each other the whole time they were around each other. She was the light of his life as he went through the tough times with his illness. We were also blessed with our extended family of Jeremy's girlfriend, Clara, and her four children: Amani, Dylan, Karina, and Charlotte. We have had so much fun over the last couple of months sharing both meals and time. We were able to share Christmas and New Year's Eve fireworks with the kids. A good time was had by all, with PopPop lighting the largest finale firework!

Our extended family also includes Debra's mother, Wanda. After Debra's father, Leroy, passed away, Wanda moved in with us, and we were one big happy family, kind of like the Waltons. Three generations under one roof (along with 4 dogs who expected treats from Eddie several times a day), sharing life as it was meant to be shared.

Eddie went into the Navy right out of high school. He was a machinist mate on a submarine. After getting out of the Navy, he became a machinist and ended up having his own machine shop, E. & D. Precision Machining, Inc. He and Debra worked together, even incorporating the help of the boys. He taught his boys how to do a good day's work and be proud of their accomplishments. Eddie had the ability to design all sorts of things from a piece of metal. Once it was designed, he figured out what was needed to make that piece. Eddie had a love for tooling and tools. Anyone who knew him knew he probably had any tool they would ever need for any task. He loved Lowe's!

Eddie was a Lifetime Member of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo and was on the Corral Club at Large Committee for all those years. He was even the inspiration for one of the HLSR committee awards. The Top Hand Award, awarded to volunteers for doing a good job on their committee, was suggested by him to the committee chairman. He received the first belt buckle awarded for that honor, along with a letter explaining that this award came about because Eddie was bold enough to ask the head of the committees. As a result, the hard work of his fellow committeemen, who volunteered their time and efforts with no appreciative accolade before this, were finally recognized. Previously, only upper committee members were recognized, but because of this award, the common committee members can also be awarded. He was also a member of the Trailriders Cook Team for 44 years. This cook team has won many awards over the years, including being selected to compete at the Superbowl Cookoff held in Houston.  One year, they placed 3rd overall for their BBQ. The HLSR BBQ competition has over 300 competitors. All these 44 years, Eddie enjoyed sharing these fun times with his best friend, Bill. They not only did the Rodeo functions together but were also hunting buddies and house-building buddies. Whatever Eddie needed help with, Bill was there. You might say they literally grew older together.

In 2007, Eddie and Debra started going to church together. Since then, they have been members of The Church at Cross Lake (previously named Terra Verde Community Church). Debra and Eddie were deacons in the church, involved in numerous Bible studies, and they served on several committees, making wonderful friendships that have lasted for years. Eddie put his cooking skills to good use for church picnics, cooking for any and all occasions. Eddie LOVED studying Biblical prophecy. His wisdom on the Bible has astonished many of his Bible study classmates. He came alive when he could make others really think and ask questions about what he had said. He had a unique way of asking questions.

His true gift from God was the understanding of the prophecies and the excitement of learning the history in the Bible as well as the application of the Bible.

Eddie is now with His Lord and Savior, asking all those questions he wanted to get the answers to. I am sure a lot of what he shared with us here on Earth has been answered since leaving us. We have all been blessed by his wisdom in one way or another. As you remember him, he wanted you to think of him as a common man. No different from anyone else. Just blessed by his Lord and allowed to share this life with other brothers and sisters, showing his love for them while living out his life and giving glory and honor to the Lord for all he was blessed with. He was a simple man, not requiring much, but he felt like he had it all. As he would say, "It is all in God's hands, and we are to trust He knows the outcome."

If you would like to send flowers, please refrain from sending standing sprays since they are not allowed at the cemetery. Potted plants may be sent to the funeral home by Wednesday for the visitation; the funeral home will then take them to the memorial service at the church. Thursday deliveries will need to be sent to the church.
