Obituary

Clara Jean Damerow went to her eternal home on September 1, 2023, at the age of  91.  She was born on December 7, 1931, in Akron Ohio, to Samuel and Beulah Reschke and married her beloved and devoted husband, the Rev. Ronald Dean  Damerow on October 12, 1951, who preceded her in death on December 25, 1989.

In addition to the passing of Clara's husband and parents was her daughter Lynn Ann Fortier, Lynn's husband David, sister Louise Taylor, brothers Samuel and Herbert Reschke, and brother-in-law Bob Diehl.

Clara graduated from Zion Lutheran Grade School and East High School in Akron, Ohio, with Salutatorian honors in 1950.  Clara had several jobs during her lifetime, but her greatest joy was in her work for the Lord.  As a Pastor's wife, she filled many roles in the church. She was a proud member of the Houston Lutheran Chorale and enjoyed many years on the Altar Guild, Dorcas Guild, working at BCAM and Angels Attic, and being involved with the Stephen Ministry.

Clara's surviving loved ones, who mourn her passing and look forward to seeing her again in Heaven, are her loving daughter Barbara Jean Fields (John "Jet"), Houston Texas, and beloved son Paul Alan Damerow (Belinda) of Corpus Christi, Texas. Clara's grandchildren, Roy Alan Nobles, Monica Jean Kawarsky (Victor), Melody Dawn Avera, Brian Richard Damerow (Paige), and Scott Robert Damerow (Alicia).  Her great-grandchildren Daniel Nobles, Christa Jean Kawarsky, Jonathan Kawarsky (Crystal), Cierra Jean Kawarsky, Desiree Andrade, Ricky Andrade, Alicia Andrade, Thea Damerow, Ames Damerow, and great-great granddaughter Hayzel Iyana Valdez, many of whom had the great honor of being at her side when she walked away in Jesus's loving arms.

She is also survived by her adored sister Mary Lou Diehl of Orrville, Ohio, brother-in-law Gerald Damerow (Sherri) of Little Rock, Arkansas, sisters-in-law Jan Reschke, of Tucson, Arizona and Karen Reschke, Akron, Ohio, with many beloved nieces and nephews.

Clara's service will be held at St. John Lutheran Church, 15235 Spring Cypress Road, Cypress, Texas 77429 on September 14, 2023.  The family will be available for visitation beginning at 9:00 a.m., with the service following at 10:00.  The Rev. Jeff Doria officiating. A private interment will be held at a later date.

The family wishes to offer their greatest appreciation to Altus Hospice and Bristol at Cypress for their tender care of Clara.  Our special love goes out to Kristine Fritz, Clara's angel here on earth, for her exceptional gift of love, respect,  and care to our mom/grandma.  She always made her smile!

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center at www.gifts.mdanderson.org .

For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.  Romans 8:38-39.
