Christopher John Taylor was born on March 31st, 1971 to John Taylor and Barbara Taylor-Peña in Everett, Massachusetts. He passed away unexpectedly on July 9th, 2022 in Houston, Texas.

Chris was a kind and generous man who always put others first. He had a spark that was evident to all who met him. With Chris, you had to be careful what you wished for because you just might get it! He would do his best to bring your dreams to reality, whether it be an awesome block party or a surprise weekend getaway trip. He truly lived for Michelle, Danielle and John.

Chris and his family moved to Conroe, Texas in 1978. He spent most of his youth running the streets of McDade Estates, playing soccer and basketball. His favorite childhood memories were his summer trips to Disney World and spending the winters skiing the Colorado Rockies with his family. He graduated from Conroe High School in 1989.

Following high school, his passion for car audio led him to a career in the car audio industry. When Shelly Hudson showed up to have her stereo fixed it was love at first sight. He didn't charge her for the service. She insisted on paying and he suggested meeting at Daniel's Bar so she could buy him a drink. Their courtship included a cross country move to Chicago where they developed a love for the Chicago Blackhawks, attending numerous festivals, and rollerblading at Busse Woods. He always insisted on foregoing his favorite Chicago pizza, Lou Malnati's, so Shelly could have her Gino's East. Being from Texas, they embraced the winter activities such as ice skating, making snow angels and tobogganing. Chicago would forever be "their town".

They married September 7, 1996, and eventually moved back to Houston to be closer to family. Chris and Shelly began their family in 2000 when Danielle was born. When the nights were long for a new mother, Chris could be found cradling his baby girl in his arms while swing music played softly in the background. John came in 2002 and Chris instantly made his new best friend, his "buddy".

Following the birth of his children, he started a new career in the industrial gas industry, most recently working for Matheson as a Safety, Health and Environmental Advisor. He made this change to move away from retail hours so he could spend more time with his family.

His devotion to his family was second to none. Chris never missed a "donuts with daddy" or sporting events from pee wee to high school. He created special moments with each of his kids. Danielle's first movie at the theatre was a date with her daddy to see Harry Potter and they bonded over the entire series. He patiently allowed her to paint his nails and play beauty salon with his hair. There was an annual daddy-daughter date to the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. Chris and Danielle have a shared love for all things Disney. She will always be her Daddy's "Sweet Pea".

John was his little man. He couldn't wait to get John his own Playskool tool set so they could "work" together in the garage. John inherited his dad's love for Star Wars and this past March the two traveled to Galaxy's Edge in Hollywood Studios, FL. WWE was something they both loved and the two of them made annual trips to Wrestlemania. When John decided to go to Texas A&M, Chris jumped in head-first into all the traditions and really embraced the Aggie spirit. Chris never missed watching John "step off" as a member of the Aggie Corps of Cadets before a home football game. His kids brought him such joy and his pride for them was almost tangible.

When it came to planning events, Chris went to the extreme. For example, it wasn't enough to have everyone over for a crawfish boil. Chris made everything extra special. He built a special crawfish table, adorned the yard with crawfish flags, had a paper towel holder with crawfish on it, brought out the crawfish shaped salt and pepper shakers filled with Zatarain's, played zydeco music, and provided Mardi Gras beads. He couldn't just boil crawfish. Chris took pleasure in getting his neighbors together. He would set up his giant TV screen in the cul-de-sac to play a movie, watch an Astros game, even hook up the Xbox for kids to play video games. He often sat back, smiled and watched as everyone else had fun. He relished in these moments.

Chris was a gadget guy. If there was a gadget or tool that would simplify a task, he had it. He was a fixer. Calling a repairman or taking a car to a mechanic was not an option for him. Few jobs were too big for him. When in doubt, YouTube was his go-to support resource. He never shied away from a project. He was a real-life MacGyver and could do almost anything with a coat hanger and some duct tape.

There are so many ways to describe Chris. It is hard to put them all into words. He was the man who would pull over the car to move a turtle from the road or help an elderly person load groceries in their car. He loved his family and friends deeply. He was a man of integrity, an inventor and innovator, a creative genius, selfless, funny, witty, hardworking, helpful, patient, dedicated and a giver.

Chris is preceded in death by his grandparents John Harold and Marjorie Francis Taylor and Llewlyen White and Dorothy Watts Jensen.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 25 years, Michelle Hudson Taylor, children Francesca Danielle Taylor and John Hudson Taylor. He is also survived by his father, John Taylor and wife Lesley Taylor, his mother, Barbara Taylor-Peña and her husband Christoval Peña, his brother Geoffrey Llewlyen Taylor along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 4:00 pm on Friday, July 22nd at the Hearthstone Country Club, 7615 Ameswood Road, Houston, TX 77095. Please come prepared to laugh, cry and share your memories of Chris while enjoying his favorite music and food.
