Obituary

On August 6, 2023, Chris Scandridge passed away at the young age of 41.

Christopher Dale Scandridge was born on January 18, 1982 to Kathi Ryan Bethscheider and Stuart Scandridge. The Scandridges lived in Ravensway in Cypress, Texas. Chris attended Millsap Elementary School, Arnold Middle School, and Cy-Fair High School (Class of 2000). Growing up, Chris was an active member of the swim team, played the baritone in the high school band, and served as quarterback for the football team.

Chris went on to Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, Florida, where he graduated in 2003 with a Bachelors of Science in Aeronautical Management. He spent over 17 years in the Federal Aviation Administration as an air traffic controller; beginning in Jacksonville Center in Jacksonville, Florida before transferring to the Houston Center at George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston, Texas. He had a true passion for all things aviation, toy drones included!

Chris spent his free time golfing both local and out of state courses with his friends and brothers. He loved driving his '62 Chevy, Ole Beaut, eating Tex Mex multiple times a week, rooting for the Hawkeyes and Packers, and finding the best deal on anything and everything.

Above all, Chris loved his wife of 11 years, Somer, and their two children, Madi and Hudson. Chris and Somer were always on an adventure together; boating, snowboarding, skydiving, and traveling. Chris recently took Madi to a boy band concert, where he comically noted that "girls shrieking had nothing on jet engines!". Hudson and his dad spent countless hours playing Roblox together and Chris was teaching both kids to golf. He was a very present father in school, sports, and home. Both Madi and Hudson agree that "he was the BEST DAD EVER".

The Scandridge family currently resides in Cypress where they are surrounded by the best of friends and their large family.

Chris is preceded in death by grandparents, Cynthia Scandridge and William and Diane Ryan, and father-in-law, Bill Fleek.

Chris is survived by his wife, Somer, and their two children, Madison and Hudson, parents, Kathi and Craig Bethscheider and Stuart and Julie Scandridge, sister, Megan Solis (husband Martin), twin sister, Cari Turner (husband Jon), brother, Jordan DeBerry, brother, Adam DeBerry (wife Andi), and sister, Rachel McFall (husband Blake). Chris also left behind nieces and nephews who adored him; Max and Micah Solis, Blake Thomas, Bryce Miles, Emma and Analeigh Turner, Mia DeBerry, Abbie and Ava DeBerry, and Gene and Farrah McFall, along with his grandparents, Dale Scandridge and Harrell and Mary Braddock, in-laws Jonni and TJ Westerhaus, and numerous cousins, aunts, uncles and beloved friends.

To know Chris was to love Chris, and to be loved by Chris. His infectious smile was recognized and cherished by all. He was full of life, had the biggest heart, and never missed a chance to root for the underdog. He was quick-witted, had an answer for everything, and funny as all get out. Chris always strived to learn more, do more, and be the best; and he was.
