Obituary

In loving memory of Christopher Karl Lutz, 73, of Houston, Texas who passed away on January 7, 2024. He has joined his beloved wife Phyllis Isom Lutz. Chris was born March 16, 1950, in Checotah, Oklahoma to the late Karl Cake and Anne Louise (Varner) Lutz. Chris was raised in Columbus, Georgia where he graduated in 1968 from Columbus High School and met his future wife, Phyllis Isom. They were married in 1971 and lived life together for 47 years until Phyllis preceded Chris in death in 2018. Chris and Phyllis resided in Houston, Texas for 46 years.

Chris served our country in the US Army as a Fixed Cryptography Technician during the Vietnam Conflict having received an honorable discharge in 1973 at the rank of Specialist 5. Following his US Army service, Chris completed his Bachelor of Civil Engineering Technology in 1977 at Southern Technical Institute of Marietta, Georgia. Chris worked his entire career in the Engineering and Construction industry for various firms including Pullman Kellogg, Law Engineering, and most recently CODA Consultants serving in a variety of technical and inspection roles. When not working, Chris was the constant handyman and do-it-yourselfer; he could always be found with a hammer in his hand.

Chris was preceded by his wife, Phyllis Jane Isom Lutz, his father, Karl Cake Lutz, and mother, Anne Louise Varner Lutz. He is survived by his sons Bryan C and wife Shawna, David P and wife Andrea, four beloved grandchildren Ethan, Nora, Ruby and Ivy of Tomball, Texas, brothers and sisters Mike of Marietta, Georgia, Scott of Eufaula, Alabama, Carol of Midland, Georgia, Kathy of Smiths Station, Alabama, and nieces and nephew. He will be dearly missed.

Family and friends will gather for a celebration of life on January 29, 2024 from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at Klein Funeral Home - Tomball, 1400 W Main St. Tomball, TX 77375. The Committal Service will take place January 30, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Dr. Houston, TX 77038.
