Christopher Clay Evans passed away peacefully in his sleep on February 7th, 2024 in Austin, Texas. The loss of his life has filled us with a tremendous sense of grief, but we are comforted knowing that he embraced God and was accepted with open arms into the kingdom of heaven.

Chris, the firstborn son of Mary Mercer Evans & Timothy Clay Evans, began gracing us with the beauty of his life on July 21, 1987, in Houston Texas. Chris shared many formative years with his family growing up in the suburbs around Houston Texas. 8 Years after his birth he became an older brother to Brian Evans, and despite normal early sibling rivalries they shared a loving lifelong connection with each other that will always remain in his younger brother's heart. Later on in the very beginning stages of his adulthood, Chris graduated from Langham Creek High School with flying colors. Chris then enrolled and attended college at Rutgers University, living on campus in New Brunswick, New Jersey. Even at a young age Chris had an incredible hunger to learn and understand technology that helped propel him to earning a bachelor's degree in computer science at Rutgers.

After these transformative college years, Chris would later travel to Chicago, Illinois leading to a position at a software company called BigMachines. There Chris was able to truly showcase his immense drive and passion for computer science and prove his skills in being a natural born leader. BigMachines was later acquired by the tech software giant Oracle in 2013 while Chris was still working there. Due to his time at the company, Chris was able to help work on a unique type of SQL (Structured Query Language) coding language that only a few people knew how to use. This knowledge allowed Chris to spend a few years working in the private sector helping companies improve and develop the databases that this SQL language was coded in. After working in the private sector, Chris would then make another big step to move to Austin, Texas where he would take a job with Oracle helping companies improve their sales force as well as using his remarkable social skills to pitch and sell this product to other new companies in need of a top-of-the-line database structure.

Chris loved all the facets of professional basketball and football; he showed a love for being challenged and learning new things in all aspects of his life whether it was work or play. He was an avid enjoyer of disc golf and truly enjoyed showing us new types of card and board games he had mastered. He was always open to trying new foods and experiences and couldn't wait to be able to share those same experiences with the people that he loved the most.

Chris was such an enigmatic person that knew how to fill any room with his love and his light. He left such an impact on all our lives that will stay with us forever and onward. His strong personality and beliefs gave our lives such beautiful color and clarity, and our worlds would not be the same if we weren't graced by his gentle guiding hand.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Robert Ancel "Bob" Mercer & Georgia Ann "Sis" Hedrick Mercer. Christopher is survived by his parents, Mary M. Evans and Timothy Clay Evans; his brother, Brian Thomas Evans.
