Christopher Petrash

1957-2025

Christopher Edward Petrash, 67, passed away on March 31, 2025. Chris was born October 2, 1957, to Ora Nell (Boessling) and Alfons Petrash. Chris is survived by his wife, Shari (Lord); daughter, Hayley; son, Taylor; sister, Barbara Windish; brother, Paul (Cindy) Petrash; and many nieces and nephews. This upcoming September 7th, he and Shari would have been blessed to celebrate 40 years of marriage. He was preceded in death by his mother and father. Chris grew up in Houston, Texas graduating from Scarborough High School in 1976 and with honors from University of Houston in 1981.

He was a long-time employee of Ziegler Cooper Architects (ZCA) from March 1985 until his death. His illustrious career included design leadership roles on some of the most recognizable buildings in Texas, including the Co-Cathedral of the Sacred Heart (downtown Houston), The Austonian (downtown Austin), The Sapphire (South Padre), and The Broadway (San Antonio). In addition to his professional achievements, community was very important to him. He helped with the design phase of many AIA Annual Sandcastle Competitions, formed multiple ZCA company softball teams, and his most recent endeavor, the annual ZCA Airshow (and costume contest).

As a child of the '60s, Chris discovered his life-long passions for Hitchcock movies, The Beatles, and Star Trek. The originality he saw in them, combined with watching his father invent his own solutions to life's problems, instilled a lifetime of creativity in Chris. He and the neighborhood kids created bicycle games (Shasta!) and scavenger hunts (Clue). As an adult he loved to create his own party games (Rock Band and Movie Quotes). During the pandemic, Chris and Shari took up jigsaw puzzles and completed over 100! He was always the go to assistant on school projects (theater set design), extracurriculars (softball pins and Pinewood Derby cars), and crafts (Christmas decorations, Starbucks artwork, and cat scratching posts). His hobby for the last couple of years was sketching, which made great gifts.

Chris will be missed dearly.

Visitation will be held from 5-8pm, with a Liturgy and Rosary at 6:30pm, Monday, April 7, 2025, at Klein Funeral Home – Champions,16131 Champion Forest Drive, Spring, TX 77379.

Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30am, Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at Prince of Peace, 19222 Tomball Parkway Houston, TX 77070.

Interment will be immediately after the service, at Klein Memorial Park – Spring-Klein, 9714 FM 2920, Tomball, TX 77375.
