Christal Truhart Janis was born in Lake Charles, Louisiana on November 4, 1955, and passed away in Houston, Texas on October 26, 2019.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Lorena Murphy; brother, Raymond Murphy; and grandparents, Cecilia Duhon Smith, Raymond Smith, Alice Starks Murphy, and Bennett Murphy.

Christal is survived by her husband, Joseph Janis; children, Melinda Janis and husband Mick Drolet, Jessica Volkert; grandchildren, Evan Oliver, Colton Volkert, Austin Volkert; mother-in-law, Nelwyn Heath; siblings, Darrell Murphy, Pamela Spears, and Randall Murphy; step-mother, Leary Murphy; sister-in-law, Dara Murphy; brother-in-law, Chester Spears; and many cousins and life-long friends that she stayed in close contact with and loved.
