Charlotte Winsett Scaife passed away peacefully on March 20, 2023. Charlotte was born in Amory, MS on May 29, 1934 to Byron Braxton Winsett and Edith Josephine Winsett (nee Likens)
During her childhood years, Charlotte lived in Mississippi, Washington DC, and St. Louis, MO before the family settled in Memphis, TN where she attended Fairview Jr. High and Central High School.
Charlotte attended the University of Oklahoma and was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority. She graduated with a Business Degree in 1957 and was an avid Sooner fan.
Upon graduating from OU, Charlotte settled in Oklahoma City, OK. She continued her education at OU in the late 60's and obtained a Master's Degree in Social Work.
She went on to have a fulfilling career as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with the Welfare Department, The Deaconess Home for Unwed Mothers, the US Government in Family Services at Tinker Air Force Base, and the Department of Veterans Affairs dealing with PTSD. During her time at the VA, she was dedicated to serving the Oklahoma City Homeless Shelter for Veterans. Charlotte also spent many years in private practice until her retirement in 1998.
She and her husband Bill resided in Nichols Hills for 30 plus years and enjoyed many fun times with family, work friends, and the neighbors on Windsor Place.
Charlotte moved to Spring, TX in November 2012 to reside near daughter Lauren and family.
Charlotte is proceeded in death by her husband LTC Bill Scaife, her parents, and her sister Carole Winsett Mallett. She is survived by her brother Win Winsett and wife Wanda and family, her daughter Lauren Little Greer and husband Gerald, son Braxton Little and wife Nancy, her stepsons Dan Scaife and Rick Scaife and wife Lisabeth, her grandchildren Charlotte Greer Johnson and husband Michael, Gerald K. Greer, Jr., Skyler Little, Heartleigh Little, Phoebe Little, William Scaife, her great grandchildren Anna and Craig Johnson, and many loving nieces and nephews.
There will be a family celebration of Charlotte's life in California, one of her favorite places, at a future date. In lieu of flowers please donate to one of her passions The University of Oklahoma Anne and Henry Zarrow School of Social Work or a Veteran's charity or Animal charity of choice.
