Charlotte Ann Keehner, age 91, passed away Tuesday, May 3, 2022 in Houston, Texas. She was born on November 28, 1930 in Jerseyville, Illinois, to William Schafer and Amelia Schafer. Charlotte grew up on the family farm. She graduated from nursing school and moved to Green Bay Wisconsin to begin her career as an OR nurse. It was in Green Bay where she met her soul mate Ronald.
After a few years, Ron's job brought the family to Chicago and then ultimately they settled in Houston.   After Ronald's retirement, Ron and Charlotte enjoyed many hours together on the golf course where they played well into their 80's. They also began traveling the world.

Charlotte enjoyed spending time with her family playing board and card games and a jigsaw puzzle was usually out at some level of completion. She could often be found in her backyard where she tended to her flowers, made sure the bird feeders were full, and made sure the bird bath had water. Her grandchildren were blessed to have her in attendance cheering them on at their many activities. And, much to her families delight, never, ever was there an empty cookie jar.

She had a volunteers' heart, devoting countless hours to various organizations in her community. Charlotte was a member of the Houston Northwest Medical Center Hospital Auxiliary for more than 40 years where she accumulated over 17,500 volunteer hours.  She especially enjoyed sewing stockings for newborn babies to go home in during the Christmas holidays. Charlotte also participated in the Northwest Assistance Ministries Neighbors Helping Neighbors program sorting items for their retail store and assisting in the food pantry.

Charlotte was a long-time member of Northwoods Presbyterian Church. She was also an active member of the Klein Chapter #1141 Order of the Eastern Star.

Charlotte was a wonderful wife, loving mother and true friend. She leaves her loved ones with unforgettable memories and loving stories. Charlotte will be missed by her devoted family, cherished friends, and all the wonderful individuals who knew and loved her.

Charlotte was preceded in death by her father William E. Schafer and her mother Amelia; brother's Harold, Bill and David Shafer. She is survived by her devoted husband of 63 years, Ronald; her daughter Cheryl Best and husband Edgar; daughter Karen Koontz; grandchildren Christopher Best, Kelly Best, Zachary Koontz and Austin Koontz.  She was also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
