Obituary

Charlie Acebo, Jr. passed away on Oct. 31, 2016 in Houston. He was born to Charlie Acebo and Soledad Velasquez Acebo on March 14, 1941. After attending Bellville High School and excelling in sports he went on to do the same at Blinn College before transferring and graduating from Sam Houston State University. Throughout his college years he continued to have an outstanding sports career as well as a love for his fraternity Sigma Phi Epsilon.

After leaving college he served in the Army and continued to demonstrate a love for his country throughout his life. He returned to the sports arena for the balance of his many years, selling sports equipment to school districts in Texas for Oshman's Sporting Goods, Pasadena Sporting Goods, and his beloved Barcelona Sporting Goods where he finished his career.

He always remained in close contact with his hometown of Bellville Texas. Second only to the pride he had for his family, his proudest achievement was when he was inducted into the Bellville Hall of Honor in 2015.

Charlie's motto of "New Friends are Silver & Old Friends are Gold" remained a constant in his lifetime.

Charlie is survived by his wife, Gail; brothers, Roy, Richard, and Robert Acebo; daughters, Debbie Acebo and Denise Acebo Hansen; and beloved grandsons Parker and Tanner.

A memorial service for Charlie will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, November 20, 2016 at Salem Lutheran Church, 22601 Lutheran Church Road, Tomball, TX 77377. A private interment service was previously held in Klein Memorial Park, Magnolia, TX.

In lieu of flowers for those desiring, a memorial may be sent to his favorite charity, The Special Olympics.
